Just got back home from visiting Denver for the first time. My husband and I decided to plan an extended weekend around our first Denver Broncos game. The Location of this Hotel is amazing...everything is within walking distance, and if not...you have the FREE transit along 16th. We booked on-line and were a little disappointed with the size of our room (very small, 1 queen bed)...the cleanliness of the room made up for the size. Bed extremely comfortable, washroom spotless! The staff were always there to help in any way and extremely friendly! Our flight arrived in Denver in the morning from Toronto, we were able to check-in before 11am...after two connecting flights to get there, we were very thankful to be able to lie down for a bit before exploring beautiful Denver!! Only complaint we had, as did the rest of the guests that weekend...were the Elevators!! We were on the 16th (top) floor. The 4 days we were there the elevators had a mind of their own. Sometimes they'd come to your floor other times not...it became exasperating. They could have and should have had someone to come and tune them up.

Very Happy Canadians, with wonderful memories of Denver!!

This hotel has a quirky sense of humor. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel has a different theme for every floor and pets are welcomed! :) The place is very clean and has great food, although the portions are HUGE!
The only drawback I have with this place is that they seem to waft the smell of bacon through the vents in the morning, and burgers at night. It seemed to be at a particular time and kinda was nauseating.

  • Disliked — smell of bacon in am

The Curtis' location can't be beat and its friendly people are a perfect fit for the fun atmosphere. But I'm more interested in a good night's rest and The Curtis has some problems in that regard.

Our room was nice and the "theme" was done tastefully. But it was loud. You heard every neighbors' door, every conversation down the hall, etc. The biggest complaint, and the reason I am giving only two stars, is that the hotel placed us on the 8th floor, which turns out, to be the pet-friendly floor. Around midnight, a very large dog started barking and wouldn't stop. I was beside myself. Dogs and hotels are a no-go for me in general, but I understand some people can't leave woofie at home.

However, its unacceptable not to inform people before they are placed on a floor where dogs have slept, lived, etc., etc.. The fact that some jerks left their dog unattended for a night only made it worse. Long story short, I complained, the staff was apologetic and we were upgraded to another room. Still, I wouldn't have agreed to a pets floor in the first place and no upgrade can replace the hassle and lost sleep. The better room still had some noise issues, so I know its not just the 8th floor.

I'd suggest The Curtis for my friends who are out all night and just need a crash pad.

Three friends and I stayed at the Curtis for 2 nights in early August and had an excellent experience. We were initially looking at hotels on the periphery of downtown to stay within our budget, but we ended up scoring a room at the Curtis during a special online sale. Because we were not renting a car, we were very happy to end up just a couple blocks from the 16th Street Mall!

The Curtis is modern and well kept. The lobby area and rooms have amenities one would expect from an urban hotel, but since this is not a large national chain, everything had a distinctive touch. The front desk staff were very courteous and helpful, as was the concierge. The only issue we had during our stay was a missing ice bucket, which was promptly dropped off at our door after I called the front desk.

We stayed on the very fittingly themed Mad About Music floor. The Curtis doesn't go overboard with the decorations, and the theme does not carry over much to the room itself. The beds are comfy, the flat-screen TV was perfect for our Olympics viewing, the view out the window is excellent, and I enjoyed taking a shower in an actual shower (rather than a tub) for a change.

The business center offers free printing for boarding passes, and there is free wi-fi for folks with laptops. (Many chain hotels of this caliber charge for the wi-fi, oddly enough.) The front desk also has board games available, so we played Yahtzee one of the nights. (How my friends had never played it before is beyond me...)

Overall, I recommend the Curtis. Its approach to lodging satisfies many different kinds of travelers. I do wish that the hotel had a hot tub, but according to signage on the premises, one is under construction and should be open by the end of the year. Wonderful!

I stayed at the hotel during the Democratic Convention. Considering they were completely full, they handled it fairly well. The pictures online are a very accurate representation of what the rooms look like. Beds were very comfy, with a sheet and a wonderful comforter (a little toasty if you don't keep the a/c on). Didn't have a tub, which was a little disappointing, but otherwise it was a perfectly good room. Location could not be better or more central. Plenty of parking in a garage attached to the hotel. I highly recommend it.
