“Fun hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

I had a very good experience here. Staff was very attentive, room service food was tasty and hot and arrived very quickly. The hotel itself is fun and kitschy, a nice change of pace. Also a pretty nice fitness center that I had completely to myself while I used it (great to work off that delicious cookie they give you at check-in). Free internet was a bit slow, but you can pay to upgrade if you want. It was fine for checking in on my email. No complaints; I would definitely stay here again.

“Updated Hotel but noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

The Curtis staff and rooms were lovely. But it was an older hotel and therefore you could hear the guest coming up and down the halls. Warm cookie on arrival was a nice touch. Staff was very helpful! We had a package and the wine and vouchers were in our room when we arrived!

Room Tip: Ask fro a room away from the elevator or at the end of the hall.

“TERRIBLE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Faulty toilet - room smelt of sewage. Told that I was expecting too much. Another room had a loud faulty AC. Only 1 staff on duty. Not safe or secure. No managers available. Loud construction causing entire hotel to vibrate from early hours of the morning. Extremely poor service. One of the worst hotels that I have stayed at in the US. First detailed review I am writing given how many serious issues I encountered, lack of acceptance or apology or any understanding of the issues. I stay at hotels frequently for work, and am generally very happy. The vast majority of my reviews are positive but this hotel was truly shocking.

Room Tip: Many rooms are tiny, even if you pay a very high rate. Many rooms are next to elevators which play m...

“Can't believe this is a Hilton”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

From the moment you pull up to the valet, your stay is ruined. They all stood around while my husband and I got out of the car and were getting our bags. When I asked for the map of other parking garages around the area, they all looked at each other confused. One finally went inside to get the map and came back out and handed me a small sheet of paper. After realizing that he gave me directions back to the airport, he said they didn't have anything else.
When we went back for our car the next morning, we were told it would be a 20-30 minute wait. Are you kidding? I am paying $28/night (since it is the only option) and it will take 30 minutes to get my car! They were so unorganized, only had about 2 people getting cars, and there were keys lying on the ground.
I had made a comment to my husband about the wait and a lady working for the valey jumped into my conversation to make a very rude comment about the wait. Couldn't believe that was how they spoke to guests.
After waiting about 20 minutes, I spoke with the front desk about the other garages and she had a few suggestions. She also assured me she would look into getting the charge removed for our first night. This was still on our bill when we checked out.
We decided to park across the street at the Performing Arts Center for about $20 overnight.
The rooms are not much better than the valet. We closed the shower curtain and there were dirty wash clothes hanging on the shower curtain.
You can hear absolutely everything going on in the hallway, including the ice machine that was at the other end of the hall from us.
The only reason that it is poor rather than terrible is the location. It is right in Downtown Denver and you can walk everywhere. It really is a great location. Other than that, I would never recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Dear Boynic;
I’m terribly sorry to hear about your experience and this inconsistency in service. While valet is the only parking option we have as we improve our garage, service should not suffer and I am so disappointed in how you were treated. Please know that your comments have been shared with the Curtis management team and we are working with our valet team to ensure necessary improvements in efficiency.
The cleanliness standards are also being addressed with our housekeeping team to avoid this happening in the future.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience and unfortunate experience that you had. If possible, please contact me at 720-889-4702 so that we can rectify the billing situation.

All the best and Happy Holidays!

“Interesting and fun, but better options are out there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I had a 1 night stay-over in Denver so figured I would try the Curtis hotel. I had read mixed reviews so wanted to give it a try for myself. Here's the breakdown:

Pros:

- Interesting, modern decor (each floor has a different theme)
- Location
- Service - best I've had in Denver!
- Breakfast buffet - also hard to beat for hotels at this level...service at breakfast was also stellar
- Gym - quite large and plenty of options for working out
- Parking - a bit pricy, but they do have parking, which is hard to come by downtown
- Bar scene - VERY vibrant, modern and with lots of options
- Accepts gov't rate

Cons:
- Rooms were small...especially the bathrooms
- A bit noisy...mainly from the hallways

Although I laid out many more pros then cons, these cons are significant. Being I was just overnighting in Denver, it wasn't that bad. But had I stayed here for a longer business or pleasure trip, these cons would have grown more troublesome. All in all, not a bad place and well worth staying for fun, but I would go elsewhere for longer stays (i.e. Embassy Suites Downtown or the Four Seasons)

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better

Hello, Sted!
Thank you for posting your review of the Curtis. To read that we delivered the best service that you've had in Denver is truly thrilling! Our goal is to make every guest feel welcome, comfortable and special. We're also glad that you were able to take advantage of the bar in The Corner Office - one of the best scenes in Denver, by far.
Thank you for noting your concerns about your guest room size. If you make it back to the Mile High City and choose to join us again, we recommend going for one of our Bigger, Better Deal rooms which are located on the corners of the hotel. These rooms will give you much more space as well as killer views.

Stay Happy!
