We stayed at The Curtis for 5 nights in October while visiting family in Denver. We had booked one of their larger rooms through Expedia (bigger better deal) and were pleased to be given a room on the 16th floor with views of both the mountains and the city. Our room was spacious, well decorated and the bed was huge and really comfy. The bathroom had a shower but no bath (no problem for us at all) and the toiletries were lovely, much better than expected.
We enjoyed the 'themes' of the various floors although this wasn't really taken any further than a quirky announcement in the lift and a few pieces of artwork on the corridor walls, but it definitely made The Curtis stand out from other hotels of this class. We had no problem at all with noise, no more so than you would expect at a hotel although we could imagine that rooms close to the lifts would have the potential to be noisy with all the coming and going and the announcements every time a lift arrived. We were pleased to find that Wifi access, local phone calls and a daily paper were included in the room rate - a nice surprise compared to some more exclusive hotels. We had a problem with the air con in our room but having reported it at reception on our way out for the day it had been fixed by the time we returned.
We ate breakfast in The Corner Office, drank at the bar on a couple of occasions and also had dinner. The menu was pretty extensive, with quite a few veggie choices (which I've found is rare in the US) but also enough to keep carnivores like my boyfriend very happy. Prices were reasonable (well everything is in the US with the exchange rate at the moment!) and portions were huge. The cocktail menu at the bar was excellent and each cocktail was served in it's own individual shaker so you could finish pouring it out youself, a nice touch.
The only thing that let The Curtis down was the lack of a safe in the room. There were safety deposit boxes at the front desk but we like to keep our cameras, iPaq, jewellery and other valuables in the safe but easily accessible and leaving them at the front desk wasn't very convenient, so we didn't and ended carrying everything around with us instead.
Overall we had a great stay and would certainly stay again when we're next in Denver.
