“Smokey Room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2005

I stayed at the Guest House in Denver on the night of Sept 27th while traveling through Denver in Route to Aspen. I requested a non-smoking room due to allergies. I started to smell smoke coming from the air sytems. It was horrible, but at 11 pm and being exhausted, I wasn't about to repack and move rooms. I was on the ground floor and 2 doors down from the lobby.

The stay was fair for the cost, but just beware that you may be residual smoke smell from the air system.

We had reservations for another hotel in Denver, but discovered there was no pool after we checked in. A pool was listed on the web information. With three children for four days, a pool was very necessary. After calling the Denver Stapelton (which is a former Best Western), we changed hotels and was vey happy with the price, friendly people, continental breakfast, convenient location to restaurants and shopping centers, complimentary airport shuttle and of course the great indoor swimming pool! Rick, Darien and the entire staff were very nice and helpful. This was probably a more luxurious hotel once, and now it is a nice, clean, comfortable, secure place to stay. and I will stay there again when I am in Denver.

This was by far the worst hotel we've stayed in. I unfortunately read the one other review on this hotel and booked it. There were drug dealers, and low lifes hanging around the hotel, day and night. My kids and I could have purchased any drug in the world, right outside our hotel room. This hotel is a residency for many people. Our room was broken into and our stuff thrown around. There were a few very nice people on the staff. This is not a safe hotel to travel to, and the other review must have been a joke.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights for the great price of 32 $ incl. Tax ( with Coupon - no reservation )
It was clean, big rooms, helpful and very friendly staff and the best: breakfast for free!
I felt safe and comfortable, what was very important for an alone travelling woman. So I could recommend it to everybody!

This BW was probably damn nice in a previous life during the high times of Denver Stapleton Airport before it closed in 1995. All over the hotel are remnants of where paintings/mirrors used to be.

Regardless of age evidence the hotel is clean and staff is only average, with not much smiling, but effecient. Easy access from I-70 and very reasonable room rates. Large shopping center across the street, but only fast food. Not located in the best neighborhood west of the hotel. You better have a car.

Morgan's Bar and Grill is a "happening place" but definitely caters to the locals. Continental breakfast was weak, even by BW standards.

Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. No internet access.

A good bargain as long as you don't have to spend 100% of your time there.

My husband and I stayed here in July 2004 for a night on our way to go white water rafting. We found an Internet special for $50 and it was an excellent deal! The room was clean, the bed was okay, and they had a great (free) breakfast in the morning. The hotel was quiet, the staff was nice, and we would definitely stay here again.
