Superlatives fail when writing of this hotel. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the bed was superb, the standard of cleanliness was excellent, the small, free, business centre was well equipped, a coffee maker, micro-wave and even popcorn were provided in the bedroom, the complimentary breakfast included warm as well as cold food and, best of all, the staff were genuinely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The pick-up from the airport by the hotel's van, and the later return there, was managed by a cheerful and very cooperative driver and when we wished to go into town one evening, and the van was not otherwise required, we were dropped down to the centre on a pure goodwill basis. The only regret was not staying longer and not having the opportunity to sample what looked like an equally good restaurant. All this was against a price that seemed too good - too low - to be true. This would be a wonderful hotel for a family on a touring holiday.
Because of my work I have stayed in literally hundreds of hotels around the world. The Timbers stands out as one of the very best I have stayed in anywhere and the staff and management deserve every credit - and every success. It would be wonderful to see clones of The Timbers appear elsewhere - though I doubt if enough equally motivated and friendly people are available to allow it!
