The Timbers has an updated western theme that is attractive and inviting. The bedding and room furnishings are excellent. What is missing is a full length mirror in the dressing area, free newspapers in the lobby and breakfast room. The breakfast was ample but they offered no juice. It was not well organized and there was no attendant to answer questions. It is a windowless room without tv or newspaper for distraction if you are eating by yourself. There was no tv in the exercise room either and the eliptical equipment needed repair. I'm not a tv addict, but I do enjoy it when I exercise or eat alone.

It wouldn't take much for this independent hotel to be a superb value, but for now it receives an average ranking from me.

I read reviews on this website and others about some of the problems but decided they weren't that big a deal and since this hotel is close to the airport that I could deal with those kinda of problems. Oooph. I didn't expect this.

One of the problems reported was slow check in. We experienced this. The people ahead of us were morons and kept changing their minds about what they wanted, asked a million questions and then wanted to use traveler's checks (what is this 1950!?). However, there was only one desk clerk on duty (it was about 4pm). We had to wait at least 20 minutes to get checked in. For $120 a night you'd think that if they couldn't manage to have two desk clerks that they would have been able to pull someone from some other duty to check us in.

My internet reservation stated we'd have a "King Suite". This hotel is also billed as an "all suite hotel". This is misleading. Our room was not a suite, it was a regular normal hotel room. I wasn't too bothered by this until other stuff started going wrong. Then I thought about it and didn't appreciate being mislead.

Once we checked in we put our stuff in the room and went back out. We got back around midnight and I went into the bathroom and noticed that the toilet was FILTHY. Like disgusting. Some kind of dried on SOMETHING. It was gross. Flushing it did not make this stuff go away. I was fully skeeved out and wondered what else hadn't been cleaned (like maybe the sheets!?) We called downstairs to see if someone could come clean it. Of course no one was available in housekeeping at midnight. For $120 a night you'd think they'd at least have a skeleton crew overnight.

So they offered to move us and all our stuff to another room. Well, actually they didn't offer to move our stuff, they gave us a key to a different room and told us to go there. You'd think that for $120 a night they'd at least OFFER to move our stuff for us.

The room they sent us to had 2 queen beds. Our original room had a king. Obviously we wanted a king. As soon as we saw this we asked for a king room and the girl at the desk sort of made a fuss about not having any king beds in the room rate we paid for. Finally she gave us an "upgrade" to a suite. Not that we wanted or needed a suite and it wasn't even ALL THAT. It had a coffee maker which was nice in the morning, tho. And the TV worked a lot better than in the regular room. You'd think that for $120 she would have upgraded us without any fuss given the disgusting state of the bathroom in the original room. She didn't even seem that sorry about it.

The next day I went to have the free breakfast. It was a lame buffet with eggs, sausage, french troast, potatoes cereal and muffins. I had the eggs, french toast, and potatoes. It was all cold. It was tasty, tho and would have been really good if it would have been hot. They also serve starbucks coffee (who doesn't these days?) and Tazo tea which was the highlight of the breakfast. For $120 a night you'd think the breakfast would be hot.

I tried to get on their wireless internet and of course it didn't work. Shocking.

Also, this seems nit picky but geez, they didn't even have pens and pads of paper in the rooms like a normal hotel (even Motel 6 has this!).

I've stayed in motels that are better than this that run about $40-$60 a night. In cheesy cheapy places I can forgive these types of problems but not for $120 a night!

I'm giving this an "ok but some problems" rating because the bed was really comfy, the rest of the room was clean and the decor was not hideous.

P.S. I see that you can post pictures on this site. We have pictures of the filthy toilet but I'll spare you all from seeing it.

We were directed to this business after the Holiday Inn royally botched our reservation. We were very happy to have found such a nice place to stay. The decor is western (modern) and very nice. What impressed me the most was how nice the staff was. The rooms were nice and clean and my kids thought they were staying in a cool place. :) The Peoria restaurant that is attached to this business has very good food. I thought initially that the food choices would be limited but the choices available were diverse and reminded me more of an upscale restaurant. Would highly recommend this place.

I decided to stay at The Timbers since it was close to my sisters house and it was close to the airport. Also I wanted to treat myself to a nice room.

Staying at the Timbers was pretty much a treat except for a couple of things. Nothing that was terrible but it did make may stay just above average instead of excellent. The first problem was my toilet seat. It was very loose so you had to be careful when sitting on it. I told the front desk about it after my first night but it was never taken care of during my stay. I was there from the evening of the 24th to the morning of the 28th. The second problem happened on Sunday the 27th. Housekeeping for some reason decided to do half a job on my room. When I came back to my room around midnight the door to the balcony was wide open and none of my glasses that I had used were replaced. Nothing was missing from my room thank goodness and the only reason might have been since I was on the west side of the hotel and the grounds are fenced off there. Since I was somewhat in a hurry when checking out the next day I forgot to tell the front desk. So if they read this tell housekeeping to be more careful.

The front desk personnel were very good and helpful. I was over 3 hours late checking in since my plane was delayed because of weather. I called them and let them know and they were very nice about it and let me know that I had a message from my Mom. Whenever I saw anyone at the front desk they seemed in a good mood and were being helped. That is not always the case.

Just one other thing I wish they had a secure Wi-Fi instead of the unsecured Wi-Fi.

  • Liked — The bed and shower were fantastic.
  • Disliked — The frig was not turned on so if you needed it you would have to wait for it.

I stayed at this hotel when I traveled to Aurora for an interview during a week-end. I arrived early at the airport and after calling the hotel a shuttle bus came. I must say that many of the hotels in Denver and Aurora have shuttle buses, although this may not be wrtitten on their web-sites. Upon arriving at the hotel I was able to check in immediately in a very clean and quiet non-smoking room. Everything smelled good. I booked a Studio with a King size bed which was really comfortable. I ate at the hotel's restaurant but I was not impressed by the food; what I really enjoyed was the mushroom and fish soup - delicious! If you don't want to eat at the restaurant, there is a McDonalds very close to the hotel (walking distance).
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommed this hotel if you are there for business or interviews at medical or dental school at Fitzsimons Medical Center because of the shuttle bus that will get you there and take you back to the hotel as well as the airport.

  • Liked — room, staff and shuttle bus which was very convenient
  • Disliked — food
