I read reviews on this website and others about some of the problems but decided they weren't that big a deal and since this hotel is close to the airport that I could deal with those kinda of problems. Oooph. I didn't expect this.
One of the problems reported was slow check in. We experienced this. The people ahead of us were morons and kept changing their minds about what they wanted, asked a million questions and then wanted to use traveler's checks (what is this 1950!?). However, there was only one desk clerk on duty (it was about 4pm). We had to wait at least 20 minutes to get checked in. For $120 a night you'd think that if they couldn't manage to have two desk clerks that they would have been able to pull someone from some other duty to check us in.
My internet reservation stated we'd have a "King Suite". This hotel is also billed as an "all suite hotel". This is misleading. Our room was not a suite, it was a regular normal hotel room. I wasn't too bothered by this until other stuff started going wrong. Then I thought about it and didn't appreciate being mislead.
Once we checked in we put our stuff in the room and went back out. We got back around midnight and I went into the bathroom and noticed that the toilet was FILTHY. Like disgusting. Some kind of dried on SOMETHING. It was gross. Flushing it did not make this stuff go away. I was fully skeeved out and wondered what else hadn't been cleaned (like maybe the sheets!?) We called downstairs to see if someone could come clean it. Of course no one was available in housekeeping at midnight. For $120 a night you'd think they'd at least have a skeleton crew overnight.
So they offered to move us and all our stuff to another room. Well, actually they didn't offer to move our stuff, they gave us a key to a different room and told us to go there. You'd think that for $120 a night they'd at least OFFER to move our stuff for us.
The room they sent us to had 2 queen beds. Our original room had a king. Obviously we wanted a king. As soon as we saw this we asked for a king room and the girl at the desk sort of made a fuss about not having any king beds in the room rate we paid for. Finally she gave us an "upgrade" to a suite. Not that we wanted or needed a suite and it wasn't even ALL THAT. It had a coffee maker which was nice in the morning, tho. And the TV worked a lot better than in the regular room. You'd think that for $120 she would have upgraded us without any fuss given the disgusting state of the bathroom in the original room. She didn't even seem that sorry about it.
The next day I went to have the free breakfast. It was a lame buffet with eggs, sausage, french troast, potatoes cereal and muffins. I had the eggs, french toast, and potatoes. It was all cold. It was tasty, tho and would have been really good if it would have been hot. They also serve starbucks coffee (who doesn't these days?) and Tazo tea which was the highlight of the breakfast. For $120 a night you'd think the breakfast would be hot.
I tried to get on their wireless internet and of course it didn't work. Shocking.
Also, this seems nit picky but geez, they didn't even have pens and pads of paper in the rooms like a normal hotel (even Motel 6 has this!).
I've stayed in motels that are better than this that run about $40-$60 a night. In cheesy cheapy places I can forgive these types of problems but not for $120 a night!
I'm giving this an "ok but some problems" rating because the bed was really comfy, the rest of the room was clean and the decor was not hideous.
P.S. I see that you can post pictures on this site. We have pictures of the filthy toilet but I'll spare you all from seeing it.
