I had a very nice two night stay at the Gregory Inn. White the Inn is in Denver, it is located in a somewhat downtrodden area, just a few blocks from Coors Field. It is extremely cozy and the few employees I met were gracious, friendly and quite welcoming. The room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed and the furnishings were wonderful. I was traveling by myself, so with a spouse or partner, I would imagine very romantic.

The room is furnished with a very large projection screen tv. This was a nice change, until the first night, I went to turn the tv off. I got the picture to go off but the sound would not. After 30 minutes, the sound was still going. This was at midnight, so their was no staff to call to assist. I slept through the tv sound on. Kind of annoying. Reading the comments of some of the previous guests, the staff should be aware that this is an issue and have more visible instructions.

I would stay here again. It was a bit quiet for a business trip but very nice and recommended. Sadly, I did not have a chance to have breakfast either morning.

Management response from StephenDenver, owner

It's really regretable our guest didn't understand that there is always 24 hour staff to solve problems such as this one with the TV sound. If only he had called the front desk from his room, "0" on the phone, we could have immediately resolved his problem. In this case he had closed drapery over the remote sensor, but the projector on the ceiling could still receive commands. We try to provide guests with upscale TV, DVD, and music technology which regrettably requires a sopisticated touchscreen remote control. We understand it is different from home and have searched everything available to provide the simplest, most user friendly, remote control. Our options are to provide TV in a box with limited channel selection, like most all B&Bs and hotels, or choices between large screen cable TV with HBO and over 300 channels, DVD movies, House Music or personal CD players. We also explain to each guest upon arriving in room the two touch on, two touch off remote control.....and how to reach the front desk after hours if any problem is encountered. There is lots of soundproofing between rooms, nonetheless, the front desk has complete control over guest room sound from adjoining rooms....but guests must inform the front desk if any disturbance keeps them from a comfortable sleep.

My husband and I recently spent a week at The Gregory Inn while he attended the CEDIA convention in Denver. Our room (Joan's room) was exactly as pictured on the website. Warm colours, a magnificent 4 post feather bed requiring a step-stool to get into, comfy chairs, fireplace, a spotlessly clean bathroom with jacuzzi tub and lovely sitting porch outside. A charming and romantic room.
Stephen, the proprietor, was gracious and welcoming, recommending several good restaurants, and always happy to be of assistance. The morning breakfasts were a real delight! Eggs Benedict, fresh fruit with waffles and hot syrup, yummy omelets were just a few of the offerings. Great coffee, too!
Really loved the retreat from the busy days at the convention center, and only a short $6 cab ride away! Highly recommend for business or pleasure!

We stayed at the Gregory Inn during early June for two nights and loved it. Michael's room was our choice and we were not disappointed. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in and the big screen television was a hit even though slightly complicated to run. The large whirlpool bath was also wonderful. Since it was June the fireplace had been shut down for the summer so did not get to use that. Furnishings were exquisite.

Each morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast. We found the staff helpful and friendly. We did a lot of walking around Denver and it was just a 10 minute walk to be in the middle of the city. A great time! Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights for our first anniversary - kind of a big deal - and I was very disappointed. We are seasoned B&B-goers, so I have experience on which to base my review. It's 2 blocks away from 2 homeless shelters. Yes, close to LoDo, but who would dare walk in that neighborhood? We were shown around when we arrived, but that was the only time in 3 days that we saw our host. This place is just a fancy hotel with breakfast - not a true B&B experience. They advertise "gourmet" breakfast on their website. We got scrambled eggs with toast and fruit, and one day we got waffles with fruit. I could make this at home. One of the reasons I love B&B's is the gourmet breakfasts, like quiche, fritattas, stuffed pancakes, etc. I would have preferred to have paid less for a hotel room and gone out for breakfast. But for nearly $200/night I sucked it up and ate what I was served. We stayed on the 2nd floor in Michael's Room the first night and moved to Owen's Room on the 1st for the remainder. Owen's Room was definitely better in terms of layout. The chef, Todd, was the only staff around to recommend sights and to answer questions and we liked him a lot, but he hasn't experienced most of what the area has to offer. When hosting people from out of town, it is essential to be knowledgeable. Maybe the owner is knowledgeable, but I wouldn't know - he couldn't be bothered to make an appearance. Is this ranked #1 because it really is the best Denver has to offer?

If it weren't in the middle of the ghetto...it would have been nicer!!! The view from our room was an abandoned lot with homeless people and hookers all around. The room inside was lovely.....nice sheets, nice bathroom and kept very clean. But....i would recommend staying on the 2nd floor....we were awoken each morning at 4:30 to our upstairs neighbors taking a shower, watching TV and goodness knows whatelse. We literally heard them use the toilet! The breakfast left a lot to be desired. I am a professional chef...and was not at all pleased. We ate breakfast out the next few days...yes, i'd rather pay to eat decent food. Apparently they were short staffed when we arrived, i sat in the lobby area for 45 mins waiting to check in after a 5 hour flight...and to get more towels was like asking my 8 y.o to clean his room. The place was really stuffy and so were the other guests.....i guess we were just to trendy and cool...because we were literally ignored when we did go to breakfast that one morning.

It was further from Downtown then i'd have liked....i found the B&B area to be somewhat scary...and i grew up in Downtown Atlanta!!!! Just a little FYI for those looking to have a romantic honeymoon...as we were. Again...Room...good...Area...BAD...Service....so so...Food....not to my liking!
