5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013 via mobile

I live one busy life. Full time Dad, Full time Husband, Army National Guard, Freemason, volunteer, and I work a full time job 50-60 hours a week. I need to relax, and this breath taking b&b does it for me. This was my second visit here with my wife, and it won't be our last. From the moment you walk through the door, you can feel the mountain ease off your shoulders. Their home is beautiful, the family that owns Castle Marne are enchanting, intelligent, and a pure pleasure to interact with. I have found my sanctuary here, to get away and refocus, and for that I'm eternally thankful. Not to mention the food is superb! And the coffee is strong and rich.... I could go on, but I'll end it by saying this establishment and the wonderful family and staff have captured my repeat business.... And I will be back. Anxiously waiting for my next visit.

We stayed at Castle Marne for 2 nights in November in the Lang room and Raymond room. The service was pleasant, the decor was delightful, and the food was delicious! The owner, James, gave us a history lesson on the establishment and the restoration of the home at breakfast and it was delightful and informative! If you're staying in the Denver area and want to stay some place centrally located with history, charm, and a romantic touch look no further! We absolutely loved it!

We booked our room, The Tower Room, for one night, the night of our actual anniversary and were informed in an email that we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite at no extra cost. We were quite pleased with the upgrade to the larger room with a whirlpool/jetted tub in the adjoining room. We loved the afternoon tea with earl grey or herbal orange spice, shortbread, lemon bars, blueberry oat bars and homemade chocolate truffles. Breakfast was also very good with homemade bread and muffins, spinach quiche, fresh fruits, juices, and tea and coffee. In addition, one of the owners spent a good deal of time reviewing the history of the building and the restoration it underwent to become what it is today. As we were about to leave, he also informed us that the zoo was free that day. So we went to the zoo, as well as the planetarium that we had planned to go to originally. Overall just a lovely stay!

We are so pleased you enjoyed your anniversary in the Presidential Suite. We try to upgrade guests celebrating special occasions whenever possible. Thank you for mentioning all the home made afternoon tea treats, late night cookies and breakfast. We are putting together our new cookbook. You will be able to make everything we make in your own kitchen.

We'll put out a special announcement when the cookbook is ready. Let us know if you'd like to buy one. Otherwise, come back soon and enjoy eating everything while you are here.

Warmest Regards,
Melissa

Family/staff were all wonderful, and our room was great, taking into consideration you'll be staying in a very old home with squeaks and other noises. Our room was pretty tight, even for just two of us, with the queen size bed taking up 80% or more of the space with just enough room to skirt around the end of the bed, use the in-room sink, or open the bathroom door. This is a delightful spot for a special occasion but pricey for a multi-night stay.

Thank you for your comments about your stay. Glad you mentioned the squeaky stairs and small rooms. Yes, it's true, 125 year old historic mansions are not cookie-cutter hotel rooms. We pleased that even with the tight quarters you still enjoyed the quant and unique experience of staying in our Castle. The next time you are ready to step back in time, let us assist in selecting a larger room. It would be our pleasure to have you back with us again.

Until we see you again...

We live just an hour away from Denver, and this continues to be one of our favorite getaways whether coming into Denver for an event or staying for a weekend! The service & welcoming staff are consistently great - and the afternoon tea and morning breakfasts are outstanding. While some may miss not having TVs, we enjoy our stay and experience so much that we hardly notice. This is a classic B&B to experience, with friendly, helpful staff that have numerous recommendations for dining, nightlife and day trips throughout Colorado. Innkeeper Jim is like having a personal concierge for those guests who are not familiar with Denver and Colorado.

What a lovely review, thank you. We also appreciate you mentioning that you only live an hour away from the Castle Marne. We are the perfect "stay-cation"! Jim is such a font of knowledge for history, things to do while in Denver and Castle Marne trivia that he'll never want for things to talk about. Just ask him a question and you'll find yourself asking another and another. We call him "Mr. Castle Marne".

We're looking forward to having you back again soon.

Melissa

My friend and I decided to stay in Denver our last night following a Breckenridge vacation. Castle Marne seemed to call our name. Something different and fun. The innkeeper when we arrived was pleasant and gave us a short tour and run down of castle Marne's history. We stayed in the Melissa suite... Perfect for us! Cute, cozy, private bathroom. Then we had a delicious breakfast with the owner who was so friendly and warm. We had great conversations too. Sadly, we ate a late dinner the night before and still full for breakfast which we regretted.. But the half we did eat, was delicious!

So glad you enjoyed your stay with us while traveling home after skiing. My name is Melissa, I'm the daughter in this 3 generation family business. I know the Melissa room is "cozy", code word for small, but the queen size bed and en-suite 3/4 bathroom makes for a very comfortable stay.

The next time you are with us, we'll recommend a restaurant for you earlier in the evening so you have room for our fabulous and hearty breakfast the next morning. Until we see you again,
Melissa

I had a wonderful stay at the Castle Marne in Denver! Loved everything about the place from the comfortable room, tea time to the wonderful breakfast. In the evening during "sleepy tea time" we got to chat with some of the other guests and enjoyed them very much. With no TV, it took you back to a time when people enjoyed each others company. The owners were so very nice and took great care of us to make sure that our stay was perfect! I have visited Denver many times but this was my first time at a B & B. In the future I will always make Castle Marne my destination in Denver.

Room Tip: The rooms are very cozy, so ask lots of questions to see what the extras are. For example, by broth...

Green Features: Well everything in Colorado is "green." So they meet the standards of the state. That stuff is not important to me. I prefer to judge a place on their service and Castle Marne was superb!

How funny you used the phrase "Cozy Castle". What a wonderful thing to say about the Castle Marne. Normally I don't think of those two words being used together, but actually they work when describing us!

Thank you for mentioning you getting to know other guests in the Parlour over later night cookies and SleepyTime Tea. We realized years ago that televisions change the entire dynamic of a b&b. Guests go into their rooms, close the door and turn on the television. Meanwhile, there is a lovely opportunity to enjoy afternoon tea going on downstairs in the Parlour, beautiful gardens to enjoy in season or new friends to be made over working the puzzle. Thank you for mentioning to future TripAdvisor travelers that if you want a t.v. in your room, the Castle Marne is not for you.

You are welcome back anytime. We look forward to seeing you soon.
