“What a romantic birthday place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

I was celebrating a "significant" birthday (one that ends in 5 or 0), and my husband and I chose Castle Marne for a special time. This was in February; sorry my review has been slow. My husband says that making reservations was very easy, not to mention friendly and welcoming.
We arrived as the afternoon tea was served, which I enjoyed immensely! After checking out our assigned room, we noticed that the Presidential Suite was not occupied. The chance for a king-size bed was too good to resist, and we were encouraged to make the switch. Great room, with a Jacuzzi, just what we were looking for.
Dinner was served by the daughter/granddaughter of the managers, and she did a wonderful job. We were the only two guests having dinner, so we felt like royalty. I had delicious salmon, and Chris had a steak, along with salad, hot bread, and a chocolate dessert, with candles and singing.
We slept like kings, and awoke to a terrific breakfast. Other guests joined us, and it was fun to share their experience in Denver.
I can't think of a better way to get older--perfect hospitality, congenial surroundings, comfortable lodging, and good food. Castle Marne rates very high on our list of great places to celebrate any special occasion!

Room Tip: All the rooms are well-furnished, clean and comfortable. We chose one with a king-size bed, but the...

So glad you enjoyed your stay at the Castle Marne. A late review is better than no review. We appreciate you remembering us and sharing your thoughts about your stay.

On behalf of my daughter, we are thrilled you liked the candlelight dinner for two in the Peacock Dining Room. Isn't it romantic? Just the two of you? We are so pleased you loved the evening.

It's the only private dining room in the city that serves just two. Candles, soft music, delicious food, that special loved one and you've got the recipe for a perfect evening.

Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to having you back again this this February.

What a great places to spend a few days! Loved the family who run the place--they go above and beyond and take great pride in their work. Fed us well, comfy beds, nice balance of privacy and socializing. Loved it and will recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with future Castle Marne business travelers. We pride ourselves on anticipating our corporate guests needs by balancing privacy and socializing. Afternoon tea is the perfect time to unwind, meet other guests, find out about great restaurants and work the puzzle. Breakfast is another wonderful way to learn about interesting things to do in town and get a great start on the day with a delicious morning meal. Mom was right when she said "breakfast is the most important meal of the day".

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts about Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast.

I was looking for a B&B that was convenient to the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Botanic Garden. I got all that and more at this graciously well-run inn. We were greeted by host and co-owner Melissa who checked us in, showed us around, and invited us to sample the offerings for afternoon tea (and night-time cookies). Her husband and her parents invested in this historic home in the 1980s and have worked very hard to bring back the home to its former glory. Breakfast was very tasty and nicely presented. You are in for a treat when you stay here. (Parking on the street is not an issue overnight--most of the surrounding houses are used for offices, so that frees up room for easy parking).

Room Tip: The Melissa room on the 3rd floor might have been the smallest one, but it was certainly adequate fo...

We, my wife and I, senior Australians, stayed in the Conservatory Room for three nights in September prior to picking up a RV for a trip north and northwest. The building, as the photos indicate, is unique in many respects. The family, I think, have tried to retain it's originality both inside and out making allowances for today's necessities. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet albeit off the lounge area, behind an entry door and thence another door into the bedroom. The bed was comfortable however our first night's sleep was restless (generally happens) however the second and third no problem. The airconditioning, a window unit, is best be described as a little noisy although it didn't keep us awake. The bathroom is small, no getting around that however again it is adequate. The wash basin area was cramped for shaving activities.

Breakfast, our stay included three, was sufficient. It consisted of the usual tea and coffee, hot muffins, toast and the main an egg based plate, the first morning a quiche, the second a Spanish Omelette and the third an egg dish of an origin I can't remember. I generally eat eggs of the poached, boiled or fried variety so settled for the alternative, can't remember if there were others, cereal. My wife enjoyed all the egg dishes. All breakfast were served by either family members or staff.

The B & B is a short walk from Colfax Street which is serviced by regular buses. Both bus stops, into and out of the city are nearby on Colfax.

When travelling in from the airport we were informed by a fellow bus passenger Colfax was a former red light area of Denver and perhaps we should not venture out on it after say 9.30 pm. We are well travelled, alert to our surroundings and didn't experience any problems however you can see and feel it is a near city area. However once you get 50 / 100 yards off Colfax towards the B & B the homes / properties get grander. We didn't walk more than a couple of blocks in any direction from the B& B, only because we had no desire or necessity as we were only in Denver for a few days and spent most of the time exploring the Denver city areas. We really enjoyed the city of Denver, a lot to do, would have liked more time.

The B & B staff, especially a young lady named Abbie (hope I've spelt correctly) and family were very obliging and efficient.

We had dinner only once in the area at IL PostO which we thought was overpriced.

Worth staying at the B & B if only to enjoy the bulding, it's interior and furnishings.

Room Tip: I can only comment on the Conservatory which was adequate, not the best we have stayed in however no...

Located right in the heart of Denver, this Bed & Breakfast, is a special place to stay. We stayed on the 3rd Floor in the Tower Room. The room was spacious, though the bathroom was down the hall. It was a private bath, however, and it is the only room which doesn't have a bath in the room. It didn't bother us to take a little jaunt down the hall when we needed to. The room was extremely quiet at night and has an air conditioner, and a ceiling fan for the warmer summer days. Breakfast was terrific and the tea and pastries in the afternoon and tea and cookies at night were added amenities. If you don't have a laptop and need a computer, there is one in the large hallway on the 3rd floor. The garden is lovely. Three generations of this family are your hosts, and they are all attentive and work together to make your stay pleasant. The B&B is on a major bike lane through the city, 16th street. Obviously, bikes are so much quieter than cars-I slept right through all the people riding to work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Castle Marne with other future TripAdvisor guests. We are pleased that you enjoyed your three nights with us in the Tower room. We know it can be a hassle to have the private bath a few steps down the hall from the bedroom, but the Tower room is one of our most popular rooms. I just love the angles in the 17 ' cathedral ceilings and how about that great bed?

On behalf of the family and staff of Castle Marne Bed & Breakfast we hope to have you back again soon.

What a great find. In Denver you can stay at a stately old castle in a room that includes a jacuzzi on a private deck and a gourmet breakfast served in the majestic dining room for less than the chain hotels. Not bad.

Room Tip: Raymond Room is small, but gotta love the balcony

So glad you enjoyed your visit with us here at Castle Marne in the Raymond Room. Yes, that hot tub is great. Kind of makes up for how small the bedroom is. Glad you liked breakfast too. As you know we make everything from scratch except the jams and jellies. Please let us know the next time you are coming through Denver. We'd love to see you again.

Until then,

I enjoyed my stay at the Castle as I was in town to take in a Rockies game. This is a fine location as Coors Field is easy to locate from the residence. The room was very nice and the innkeepers very happy to provide information. Breakfast was very well done.

Thank you for staying at the Castle Marne while you were in town for the Rockies game. Did we win? We appreciate you sharing your thoughts about your experience. Even though we say on the web-site that the Raymond is the smallest room in the house, that hot tub and large private balcony is hard to beat, especially for the price. Glad you enjoyed your stay. How about coming back to Denver for a Bronco's game? Let us know and we'll make your reservation.

Go Rockies and Broncos!
