The Capitol Hill Mansion is a beautiful and historic property, located blocks from downtown Denver. We originally had reservations at the Brown Palace, but after reading the reviews, we changed our plans. We're glad we did.

We stayed in the Snowlover's room, which has its own balcony (during our trip we got to experience the famously capricious Denver weather--82 degrees one day, snowing the next, so our enjoyment of the balcony was limited!) The room was charming and comfortable. Both the shower fixtures and the toilet require care when operating, but overall, everything worked just fine.

Bailey greeted us and was helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was outstanding--several steps above a hotel meal.

We had a great stay.

My partner and I had a great time at the Capitol Hill Mansion.

We were greeted by the friendly front desk receptionist who greeted us by name and offered baggage assistance.

The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed linens were gorgeous and looked new, and the bed itself was very comfortable (with lots of thick pillows and thick down like comforter). The decorations were in a Victorian theme and the inn room had pretty wooden floors.

We thought the location was great, within walking distance of downtown, very close to the Capitol and within blocks of restaurants around the area. It's a residential neighborhood, with lots of people out walking dogs.

My partner is an early riser and thought that someone who was not might be bothered if he/she chose the first floor room (the Paintbrush room) because it seems to share a wall with the kitchen and is right by reception and the front door (so the phone rings early/late and the guests come and go past their room). But the innkeepers are aware of this and discount the first floor room beyond the other rooms (or this is my guess as to why it is a lower price). (And I slept great, like being in my childhood home, coaxed out of bed only by the promise of a yummy breakfast).

We were there on business and found the set up to be work friendly (reliable wireless and a comfortable lounge area where you could also work).

The chef at the B&B is so genuinely affable and engaging (and into what he does and explaining it to anyone who is interested) that he was a whole separate jewel within this gem of a place.

I recommend highly, but I hope you don't book it so that I cannot get in there when Fauntleroy and I need it.

This gem of a B&B in downtown Denver can't be missed. The gentlemen who run the inn are SO congenial and friendly, I will certainly make a point of coming back. Breakfast was gourmet, with the most creative, tasty food I've ever had at a B&B. And I've stayed at inns all over the US. At $100 a night, it's a steal for the convenience, clean and cozy rooms and the best hospitality in the west. Highest recommendations.

Six of us stayed at the Capitol Hill Mansion for four days last week. Everything was wonderful!! We occupied the Bluebell Suite, the Pasque Flower and the Shooting Star Balcony Room. Each couple loved their accommodations.

An added bonus was BREAKFAST. The hosts are both exceptional cooks!

All six of us highly recommend this establishment!

I spent one night in the Snowlover Balcony Room at the Capitol Hill Mansion B&B while in Denver for a job interview, as I wanted a bit more local flavor than a business hotel would offer. The inn is a beautiful historic mansion in a residential neighborhood just blocks from the capitol. The hosts, Jay and Carl, served excellent Colorado wines in the evening. I ended up eating dinner (along with some new friends I met at the wine reception) at Cuba Cuba, a local restaurant housed in 2 historic cottages. Unfortunately, I had to leave for my interview before breakfast was served, though Jay got quick bread and juice ready for me.

The Snowlover is a nice room, with a balcony overlooking 12th Ave. There is a sink in the room, with a shower stall and toilet in 2 alcoves immediately off the room.

I loved the architecture of the house, with its ornate woodwork and stained-glass windows. It was also very convenient to restaurants and downtown attractions. I would definitely stay here again.
