I just recently stayed 5 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Denver and it was a very enjoyable stay. I read some of the earlier reviews about the value for what they paid. Since I paid less than $150 per night, my stay was well worth the money. They have an excellent breakfast buffet that was included in the room price and it offered a varied selection including made-to-order omelets. They also have a nice-sized exercise facility that is located on the lower level near the indoor pool.
The staff was very attentive and friendly. The hotel is fairly new and the decor is great in the public areas and in the rooms. They have the new flat screen televisions in each room and that's becoming a standard that I look for. I didn't use the valet service but the price they charge is typical to downtown hotels in other major cities.
The area the hotel is located in didn't seem to be a problem for me and the hotel is right across the street from the Colorado Convention Center. The16th Street Mall is only 2 blocks away and was a pleasant walk even in 40 degree weather. I used the free 16th Street Mall shuttle to get to restaurants and stores that were several blocks away, so access to most things in downtown Denver was not a problem for me.
I even walked the roughly one-mile trek to the Pepsi Center to see the Nuggets play. I felt safe and noticed others walking along 14th Street that night. (I could have used the mall shuttle to reduce some of my walking distance but needed the exercise).
I agree that if you are paying upwards of $300 a night, there may be other choices that provide better value for the money. However, I would strongly recommend this Hilton Garden Inn to other travelers to Denver and especially to those familiar with the brand.
