I enjoyed my 10-day stay at the Hampton Inn Downtown Denver. Originally booked with another hotel located in the central downtown area but did not like the small size room for the enormous price. Browsed through the yellow pages and chose the Hampton Inn and was very pleased with the experience. It isn't located in central downtown, which is a plus, because the central downtown area, in my opinion, was a maze of activity, people, traffic, not how I wanted to spend my vacation.
The Hampton Inn is located a few short blocks from the central area, within walking distance of 5-10 minutes from the central downtown area. It appeared to be a safe area, at least I felt safe while staying there. There are a variety of tourist attractions in the area which included the state capital and several museums. Denver has an active public transportation system, buses, light rail.
Staff at the Hampton Inn were courteous and helpful. The Hampton Inn has a large, well furnished, check-in and waiting area and a large dining area. There were a variety of food items available at breakfast . The exercise facility included treadmills, bike, weight machines, a cross-trainer, and a large indoor pool. There was also a laundry facility, $1.75 for large capacity washer, $1.50 for the dryer. The front desk has laundry detergent and changes bills into quarters for the machines. Every floor had an ice machine and soda vending machine. Since I intended to stay a longer time, I went grocery shopping at a local foodmarket, but also dined in local restaurants. The hotel has information on tourist attractions and day trips. Free wireless connection in rooms was a plus.
Parking was $16.00 per day, that sounds like alot, but their valet parking was worth it. Downtown parking charges one price during the day, and an additional price overnight, and if you leave the lot you have to pay again when you return. Street parking meters located around the Hampton Inn limit parking to two hours. With the hotel's valet parking you can come and go as many times as you want without any additional charges. I strongly recommend inspecting your rental car before signing for it. A car rental agent stated that " lots of their cars have scratches".
Every night I slept soundly in beds which were just the right firmness. The Hampton's studio suite was spacious and had plenty of counter space. I had a stellar stay at the Hampton Inn in downtown Denver and highly recommend this hotel for those traveling to Denver.
