Stayed here this past weekend for a quick vacation and it was a great experience on a number of levels.
-- The location is great, two blocks from the 16th Street Mall, a short walk to Coors Field, a nice jaunt to the trails near the Platte River.
-- The accommodations were terrific...we stayed in a suite with a small flatscreen in the sitting room and a larger TV in the bedroom. There wasn't any dirt or grime or any of those issues...the place was spotless. Free Internet kept us connected and to check on last-minute plans.
-- Parking was painless ...yes, it was a separate cost, but, the garage is run by a private company, so that's to be expected I think.
-- Breakfast was awesome. Free, hot, varied and yummy. Eggs, sausage, waffles, potatoes, French toast, oatmeal (with options of raisins, brown sugar and walnuts), yogurt, fruit, breads, juice, cereals, etc., etc. The hot foods were slightly different every day (for example, Monday had scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs and ham). Did I mention this was all free? That, by far, is the best part. We then spent a little more on dinners in Denver because of the money saved (we're big believers in a big breakfast to start the day off right).
-- Cleaning service was great, down to the little details. I wasn't feeling 100 percent, including a sore throat. Thankfully, our room had a jar with hard candies and I used quite a few to keep my throat moist. Everyday, the candies were refilled, which was great.
-- Our suite had a small kitchen with a fridge, stovetop and microwave. Although we didn't use anything other than the fridge for water, if we stayed longer than three nights, we probably would have used it more. We did order room service and the food was good, but it was nice to have some kitchen space for the food. Another nice touch is the free bag of popcorn that's in each room with a kitchen...and refilled upon request!
-- The bed was comfy, though a tad smaller than our bed at home, so my wife and I had to adjust. It was comfortable, though the air in the rooms was a bit dry and it made my sore throat worse, but that's probably an abnormal case that affected me only.
-- Front desk staff was very helpful, asking where we were from, giving us directions to places, etc.
-- The only small thing I would critique is that a bill was not under our door when we woke up the last morning we were there. I thought that's a common practice, but, perhaps not. So I had to go to the front desk, but there was never a wait at the front desk.
All in all, this hotel lived up to its No. 1 rating here and I would strongly encourage people to stay here if you're looking for a downtown Denver hotel at a great rate (we paid $129/night).
