The Hyatt Regency Convention Center hotel was absolutely beautiful. The lobby and hallways were filled with strikingly beautiful artwork. Even the walls next to the elevator were lined with leather with detailed stitching.
We stayed on the concierge club level. The staff at the concierge lounge were friendly and welcoming. In fact we dropped into the lounge several times each day to pick up a cup of coffee and chat with the staff. For me, talking with the staff at the club lounge was one of the highlights of our stay at the hotel.
I also liked the hotel's fitness area. It was well designed and there were plenty of machines for everyone who wanted to exercise.
But the main reason to stay at the Convention center hotel is its proximity to the convention center. It was just a short walk across the street to the convention center. Especially in a city like Denver that can have quick changes in weather that was a big plus.
The major down side of this hotel is the poor design of its lobby. The lobby has a number of opposing energies. There are several beautifully serene pieces of artwork that envoke the feeling of nature and ancient cultures. There are also other pieces of artwork that are fantastically vibrant and modern. Unfortunately they are all stuck together in one big immense room, so the room has no overall feeling.
In the corner of this immense lobby there is a mini nightclub/lounge area. The brash loud nose of the lounge spills over into the entire lobby. When I was checking in to the hotel, the front desk staff were repeatedly apologizing for the loud noise.
The funny thing was that the band was fantastic. It's just that after sitting for several hours on a plane and then sitting on a cramped shuttle bus not everyone wants to listen to loud rock and roll music while they are waiting to be checked-in.
But overall, there were many wonderful things about the Hyatt Regency Convention Center Hotel. If I attend another convention in Denver I will definately stay there again.
