I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center for 3 nights. I booked a Regency Club room with two double beds. I checked in through the Hyatt Web Check-In (reserved to Diamond and Platinum Gold Passport members) while I was at United Red Carpet Club in Washington D.C.; I found this service very easy to use and it let you speed up the check in procedure.
When I arrived at the hotel I just had to retrieve my room keys, and I was set. Unfortunately my keys weren’t Regency Club enabled so I rode the elevator down from the 30th floor all the way to the main lobby where I obviously complained.
When this kind of things happen I’m always stuck thinking how a completely electronic, automated system could possibly “forget” some of your reservation details, that’s why I always bring a copy of the reservation confirmation email with me. Anyway, the lady at the front desk was very accommodating; she kindly apologized for the inconvenience and updated the status of my keys. Case closed.
The hotel is indeed really fresh and modern, it has LCD wide screen TVs in the elevators, the room and bathroom are spacious and nicely appointed; in-room Samsung flat screen TV is fantastic and from our room we had an awesome view over Denver skyline.
The Regency Club lounge is really pleasant, stunning views, good food and beverages, but I found the operating hours quite strange: the lounge closes at 08:00 p.m. I stayed at many Hyatt Regency Clubs and they all close at 09:00 or even 10:00 p.m. offering cookies or a small selection of ice cream, cakes, pastries,… anyway, let me write about the ladies of the Regency Club: they are all very friendly and professional.
I didn’t have the chance to have dinner at Altitude’s restaurant, though its open kitchen looks really nice.
Leaving for LAX with the 06:00 a.m. flight I found extremely convenient Perks Coffee & Gift Shop open 24/7 where I grabbed a quick breakfast before leaving at 03:00 a.m., yes, it’s three in the morning!
The property is conveniently located near 16th street mall with all its shopping, theatres and restaurant (NikeTown is a couple of blocks away). If you’re into some more serious shopping I’d recommend going to Cherry Creek Mall that is “just” roughly 2.5 miles from the hotel, you definitely want to hire a cab to go there.
I consider this hotel one of the best, if not the best, in Denver, but in spite of its central location the neighborhood didn’t feel that safe at night, but maybe it was just my personal feeling. Anyway I really recommend this property.
