“Yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

I lived in Denver many years and had no idea this place even existed. A friend took me here and I'm hooked! The food is authentic and absolutely delicious, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is awesome. A must eat if your'e in NW Denver, Edgewater area.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2012

Hidden on 29th Street in Sloan's Lake, this neighborhood Mexican restaurant is a gem. Family owned and run, the food is always hot and fresh, and affordable. My favorite? The chile rellenos of course, and for $5.50 you can't go wrong. I also love the tamale, chile relleno, taco platter. The food is always fresh, the coke is always bubbly, and the chips and salsa are the best I've ever had (always hot, always fresh), with great salsa. We compare all other mexican restaurants to thsi one, and this one always wins.

“Good / Inexpensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

Nothing fancy here, just good Mexican food at a low price. I had the combo platter (beef burrito, cheese enchilada and crispy relleno) for $6.25. First helping of chips and salsa are free. Salsa has some bite to it, but isn't overwhelming. On previous visits I've had their standard margarita - very tasty.

This place gets a lot of business - even at 1:30 on a Wednesday it was half full. Most weeknights you can find a table. Weekend nights are even busier.

“A great Mexican restaurant in a city with many choices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2007

How can a Mexican restaurant that sells fajitas for $7 bucks be rated excellent? Well, the rating is for delivering on a promise: good food at a fair price in a no-nonsense environment with unpretentious service. This is a hole in the wall place, wildly successful for a neighborhood joint, tucked away at the edge of Denver. I eat here at least once a weak, sometimes two or three times, because the prices are so reasonable and the portions are filling. I like the Tacos al Carbon, soft open face tacos served with beans and avoacado. The mariscos rancheros, shrimp with red sauce, served with tortillas, rice, and beans, is a delicious dish. Mexican steak is served with green chili, giving you two specialties for the price of one. La Cocinita is a not a high-end restaurant. It is just a simple place serving good authentic food. Oh, almost forgot, the hot and greasy tortilla chips are to die for, and they come free to your table with every meal.
