“Great Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

This place is the real deal - it felt like we had walked into a Japanese country inn. The Teriyaki salmon is delicious, and the salads and side dishes are excellent. The one down side - although, again, probably authentic, was the seating. The chairs are wooden stumps - not very comfortable - but worth tolerating for the great food (unless you have a cranky back!).

“Superb food, setting, but condiments are forbidden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Some of THE best Japanese food we've had in long time! Overall, it was a 4.5 stars experience, but we rounded up because the food was simply superb.

Only downside: No condiments... No Soy, No Salt or Pepper, No Substitutions, and specifically No Extra Anything. The chef makes it his way, and that's it. If you can handle that concept, then read on...

Service - 4 stars
Polite and efficient, but not much follow-up. (Guess you don't need much follow-up when special requests & condiments are forbidden.)

Setting - 5 stars
We came for early dinner and sat in the doorway of their authentic Japanese "Country Style House" overlooking their exquisite Tea Garden with the sunset filtering through the trees. It was quite magical.

Food - 5 stars
Delicious! (see details below)

The Teriyaki Salmon was amazing! The sauce was perfectly balanced and spiced. It went wonderfully with the brown rice, which was to die for too. Could have simply eaten the rice & Teriyaki sauce alone. I was so keen on my dish that I flagged down our server and foolishly asked for some extra sauce. NOPE! "It is the way it is." Curses!

But, the salmon was cooked perfectly along with sliced peppers and squash. Soba noodles were very good too. The small tasters of various dishes (like a mini Indonesian Rijsttafel - Google it for details) were a true cornucopia of flavors. Some definitely better than others, but still fun to sample. Oh, and it was all beautifully plated. Yes, the chef did it right!

And yes, we would definitely recommend Domo, even without the extra sauce.

“An unusual lunch or dinner spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Domo is on the edge of downtown Denver, but go inside and you'll get the feel of an old Japanese building with gardens outside where you can dine if the weather is nice. The food is delicious and a break from the heavily sushi oriented Japanese cuisine of most American Japanese restaurants. There is easy parking, a free museum to view, and great atmosphere to go with excellent, authentic Japanese cuisine. Lunch is a real deal. Dinner is more expensive, but it is located right near downtown and very unusual. It's worth it too.

“Amazing Place to eat on a sunny Colorado Day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Great food, amazing atmosphere, beautiful outdoor garden eating area, and a museum all in downtown Denver! Country Japanese food as if you have gone to someone’s home. If you are staying in Downtown and you don’t have a car – NO PROBLEM take the light rail train to the Colfax and Auraria Stop and walk about 3-4 blocks to Osage Street or take a Taxi Cab from downtown. http://www.domorestaurant.com/
