A 10-minute cab ride from our downtown Denver hotel, we arrived just a few minutes before 6:00pm on a Friday evening. good thing we did because, we were seated right away at the sushi bar, front and center. Minutes later, the line was out the door and onto the sidewalk... reservations not accepted for parties below six.
We were promptly greeted by our chefs, Yasu-San and Soo-San. We ordered several items off the Happy Hour menu, including the Uni and Hama Kama (hamachi collar) and the chef's 6-piece sampler. Also picked some creative rolls and dishes such as Ginger Sashimi, Zuke Bigeye, Rocky Mountain (smoked trout) and Firecracker. Some things were 'traditional' some clever and modern, ALL were tasty! Loved the freshness and buttery soft texture of the fish - any reservations one may have about ordering sushi in a land-locked location like Colorado should be set aside; this was some of the best we've ever had!
One reason why the fish is so fresh is a relationship with the Tokyo fish market (Tsukigi) allows fresh items to be flown in daily. Also the restaurant has their own hydroponic farm for growing/harvesting their own vegetables.
Friendly and attentive chefs and servers, good atmosphere (lively without being obnoxiously loud - at least at the bar counter) and terrific food - what's not to love? We'd definitely go back and will recommend Sushi Den.
