My spouse & I just returned from a 4-night stay at this hotel in the Cherry Creek area. This is a smaller hotel in an upscale neighborhood, right in the middle of boutique-style shopping. If you don't want the noise and sterility of the downtown core, this is an excellent alternative. Because they have a 'courtesy car' that will take you downtown and back (within limited hours, a.m & p.m.), you can still easily access downtown and then come "home" in the evenings to a quieter neighborhood.

We found the hotel staff to be extremely helpful and courteous. One morning the concierge went out of her way to make sure I got downtown in time for the start of a conference I was attending. They were all helpful with directions to places and hints at how to get there.

The plusses: great hotel staff - helpful and responsive; rooms have large bathrooms and counterspace for 2 - and stand-alone shower is huge; excellent breakfast buffet in their in-hotel restaurant (but a bit pricey at $18); endless shopping, if you like that sort of thing; Whole Foods is right around the corner; beds are very comfortable; FREE INTERNET and ability to print boarding passes at their business center on the 2nd floor; and if you need a little refrigerator for anything, they'll deliver one to your room for the duration of your stay. One of the best restaurants is right in the area, a couple of streets down: French 250 - we had a wonderful evening there and the food & service were outstanding.

The minuses: the valet-only parking is expensive at $24/day, but you have unlimited in-out privileges. But I imagine any downtown hotel would probably cost the same, and since parking is a premium in this area of town, we just sucked it up.

One minor complaint: our last night was on Friday, and we had to rise early to catch a morning flight. Our room was on the 8th floor and we could still hear the band playing at a downstairs hotel event at 10:30 p.m., but they stopped at 11:00. Must've been a lot noisier for those on the lower floors. If you're going to stay over on a Fri or Sat, ask about whether a band is scheduled to play, and request a room away from there.

All in all, it's a solid "A" facility and we had an enjoyable stay. I'd recommend it to my friends and family.

  • Liked — Location and the dependability of the Marriott Hotels for quality
  • Disliked — Would have liked a mountain view - we faced the building across the street

This is the best of the best when it comes to Marriott. First of all, every person on the staff goes out of their way to make sure your every need is met. I needed meeting space and the next thing I know we were sitting in the Presidential Suite. The location is great and the hotel has its own private street and excellent valet parking.

I stay here quite often and think it is truly one of the best. An attentive staff, comfortable rooms. My only 2 issues are that the foam pillows are bad, and the restaurant (which is now under construction and will be much better when it reopens).

It's really well located. Being a frequent business traveler, I love that I can walk to Whole Foods for healthy meals.

Nice hotel but I prefer the Boulder Marriott

My daughter and I started our trip at the JW Marriott at Cherry Creek. It is a beautiful property and conveniently located near the University of Denver and Cherry Creek Mall. It is upscale, elegant, and pricey, but lacks the coziness of the Boulder Marriott. The best part of the visit was seeing Eva Longoria and Tony Parker in the lobby. It's a good hotel and I'd definitely recommend it if you need to stay in the area.

  • Liked — Very upscale and great location.
  • Disliked — Rather "cold" atmosphere--very formal.

We really enjoyed the JW Marriott. It was a draw for us that the Whole Foods just around the corner and down the block has a great salad bar and excellent takeout (cheaper than room service, only a little less convenient, and probably lots better).

Here are the only things we could think of to criticize: Valet parking, at 24 bucks a night, is really the only parking option in that neighborhood. One of our sheets had a tiny hole in it. They leave little bottles of water in the room without a price tag, and when we drank some, they charged us 50 cents per bottle. The towels are a bit small. They have an annoyingly small selection of TV channels. (We don't care about the golf channel! We want MTV!)

Everything else was great. In particular: we requested a humidifier in the room, and it was there when we arrived (if you stay there in winter, it's an excellent idea to request a humidifier because the climate is so ridiculously dry). The king-sized bed was very comfortable. Very friendly service. The hotel gym has a good selection of machines, including ellipticals. Lovely spacious bathroom with tub and separate shower.

Decor was pleasant, nothing gorgeous but very nice. Immaculately clean, with maid service twice a day.

Note the great Tattered Cover bookstore is no longer within walking distance, but even so, there really are lots of great shops and restaurants within an easy walk, and it's a gracious, pleasant place to stay while you explore them.

  • Liked — Great comfortable bed, well-equipped gym
  • Disliked — Pricey valet parking... but no major quibbles.
