I had to attend an all-day class here. I was really nervous about making reservations for the night before (I live 2 hrs away) due to all the negative reviews I read on different websites. However, when I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to realize that I had stayed there a little over a year ago with my daughter and 2 grandchildren to go to the Denver Zoo and Ocean Journey. My daughter had booked it as an on-line special and was also nervous about the reviews. But, we had a wonderful, large room where there was plenty of room for the children to play with their toys, etc. It was a good experience. And, this time, it was also a good experience. The room this time was smaller, but nice, beds were quite comfortable, plenty of linens, and everything was clean. Both times, we had good service and food at the restraunt and prices were reasonable. The only negatives I saw, was 1) when they book a large, all-day meeting (ie 1100+ people), the restraunt needs to better prepared for those who decide to stay there for lunch, 2) if they have the conference room space for large groups like that, they need to have enough parking spots available, 3) the room doors did allow noise from the hallway, but, they are rennovating and hopefully, will put in thicker carpet to help that problem. And, as far as the "old", I didn't notice musty smells, etc. --- they are in the process of rennovating - give them a chance! I will stay there again.

I discovered this Red Lion hotel on Quebec street because it shares the airport shuttle with the Hilton Doubletree. I have been here twice in winter and in summer on week-ends. There seems to be a regular budget seeking customer on the week-ends, mostly young families with van loads of kids, or college student athletes traveling to Colorado for competition. Yes, it is an older hotel, and some of the rooms are being renovated. And, the freight trains blow their whistles as they pass at night. It is just two blocks from a great shopping area with fast food restaurants and plenty of stores. The on-site restaurant is okay, and serves a buffalo burger. I joined the Red Lion frequent guest club, and ask for an up-grade when I check in. So far, that has worked to put me into one of their better rooms at rack rates. It's just a little hard to find the access road leading to the hotel from the Quebec Street North access road.

Avoid this hotel at all costs, it is currently undergoing renovations and effectively one is staying in a building site, this construction work is not expected to be complete until late 2008. My room was right beside a lift which made the loudest griding noises anytime it was used . I am not a light sleeper but this was impossible to ignore, when I complained I was told that the hotel was undergoing renovations . Do not waste good money on this hotel, it should not be open while undergoing renovations of this size. I will never stay here again, it is also a 25-30 minutes ride from the airport (though free shuttle provided) and not near downtown either. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

This was one of the cheapest options near the airport. They are in the middle of a renovation and the lobby/restaurant area looks pretty nice. I think our room had been renovated and it's now mostly nice (nice fluffy bed) with some parts of it still kind of weird and old. Probably the worst part is walking through the 1st floor on the way to our room (a smoking floor and wow, it is REALLY smoky) and waking up in the morning sneezing and with a sore throat. Our room didn't smell obviously smoky but I think maybe it was, despite being nonsmoking. But overall, I can't complain because the price was fair for a quick stay before catching a flight at DIA.

Ijust got back from my vacation and I could'nt wait to get home to write this review. Don't stay on the first floor. The room I stayed in (108) has ants and flies. Dam flies kept landing on my face while I was trying to sleep. The keys don't work on the door leading to the pool. The front desk said they don't work because to much water has gotten into the key slot. It would of been nice to know that ahead of time because I put the dead lock on the front door, so we had to wait outside cold and wet until they could get a maintance man to help us . Also the carpet was nasty. The only good thing about this hotel is there lobby.
