Our stay at the Red Lion Denver Central was quite nice. I would agree with past posters who say the rooms themselves don't match the fabulous lobby but the lobby is REALLY fantastic. We had a room on the 2nd floor facing the central courtyard. It was very, very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. There were a few minor cosmetic problems (a broken outlet cover, unconcealed power cords) but nothing that would cause a miserable stay. The hotel offers Bath & BodyWorks products in the room. The hotel is conveniently located to the airport (10 minutes) and the major travel corridors. We didn't eat any meals in the hotel as there are many (albeit fairly standard) restaurants nearby. I would not hesitate to stay here again. We definitely got a deal with Priceline.

Unfortunately my flight was delayed and I got into Denver late. I arrived at the hotel around 9pm. The front desk staff was rude and acted like they did not want me. The front desk informed me that there was only smoking rooms left in the hotel that the hotel does not guarantee the type of room even though I requested a non smoking with my credit card. The front desk informed me that there was nothing that they could do that I had no choice in the type of room. Okay, FINE, I just wanted to go to bed!

When I entered my smoking room, I noticed that there was roach in the bathroom. This grossed me out but I killed it and decided to wait to morning to complain. I woke up in the middle of the night (around 2am) to find something crawling on my face. It was a roach! I turned on the light and there were roaches everywhere. I immediately called the front desk. The front desk was very friendly and apologetic. The front desk man stated that someone had just checked out of a non-smoking room that he would go clean it for me so I could move.

When I moved, I was put in a new room on the 4th floor. This room was very nice and comfortable. It had a new room smell to it and it was a much better room than on the first floor. The night shift comped the room for one night and comped all my meals.

The rest of my stay at the Red Lion Denver Central went smoothly with no other problems.

The front desk during the night was very accommodating! Because of them, I would give the Red Lion another try.

After staying in one average hotel and one excellent lodge elsewhere in Colorado, I was truly disappointed to end my vacation at this place! Two positive things I can say are that 1.) upon arrival, the representative at the front desk was very friendly and 2.) the bath products were a good choice. Beyond that, the stay was quite depressing. To begin, we had reserved a non-smoking room, only to open the door and inhale a big whiff of stale cigarettes. Ugh! Next, as others have said, we could see that the furniture and walls were stained or patched up...not very appealing. And, of course, there are the trains. Need I explain? You can choose to stay here if you wish, but don't expect much.

We stayed at the Red Lion in Denver on Quebec street the Friday after July 4th, 2006. We booked and pre-paid for a room with a King bed on expedia. Knowing that we would arrive late that night for check in, I called the hotel around 3pm to double check that all was confirmed and I was reassured that our room would be waiting for us. We were planning to fly out the next morning and needed a good night sleep. My husband and child (2) were also on the family trip. We needed a King bed becuase my son can climb out of a crib and he needed to sleep between us so he wouldn't fall out of bed. When we opened the door to the room, we were greeted with 2 double beds. My husband went down to the front desk and were we told "sorry" no more King beds.

I called Red Lion headquarters when I returned from the trip and it took 4 e-mails and 3 phone calls before I received a return call from the Denver hotel. When I did receive the call, they told me they do not guarantee the bed size and all of the Kings were handed out. I was only given a "we're sorry." No compensation or refund.

VERY disappointed with Red Lion!!!
