The hotel looked nice, but as they say, "beauty is only skin deep." This statement could not be more true then when describing Red Lion Hotel Denver Central.
I complained twice in the two days that I was there about people in the halls disturbing (knocking on doors and screaming), this was between the hours of 12:30 and 5:00 A.M. Some teenagers were banging on the doors then saying, "oops, wrong room," and two women running and screaming at each other; their names were Julia and Michelle. They were obviously in high heels since you could hear the clicking on the tile floor just outside our door. With the way they were screaming, you would think an axe murderer was chasing them. I spoke with the front desk and I was told they could not control the actions of their guest. I asked about another room and was told that I could move, but there was no guarantee that it would be any better. I told them I could move when we returned from our reservation, but the offer was valid at that time only. I had prepaid sight seeing reservations and since I feel I had already been ripped off for $125.00 for the hotel, I was not losing another $100.00.
Now we come to the "free wireless internet" that was advertised. It is not free; $9.95 for 24 hours is not free. The free internet is if you sit in the hotel lobby, great working conditions with all the people running around. I went ahead and paid for the service in my room, this was a joke. I was booted off about every two minutes, had to re sign on each time. I called for assistance thinking that maybe I didn't do something right. I was told that this is not the problem of the front desk since they contract out that service…the clerk says here is an 800 number, "you can call them." This number, was busy from 10:00 P.M. March 18, 2006 until I left the room for check out at 9:30 A.M. March 20, 2006. Since I dialed it enought to memorize it, just for fun, I just now tried this number again, yeppers; you got it, still busy! (It is 10:15 A.M. March 23, 2006)
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone except maybe large groups of unruly children or intoxicated adults who act like unruly children. Business travelers or family who wish to enjoy their stay or want to get their business accomplished should seek accommodations elsewhere!
