Booked through Priceline for a quick stay in Denver for a wedding. This hotel is still going through renovations. I believe it may have been a Holiday Inn before. It has some great features, the lobby and conference rooms look great, and the breakfast bar was very nice. However, some of the not-so-nice features of the beat up Holiday Inn still show through the paint and recarpeting. Some doors to the pool seemed too beat up to work correctly (the card access). The exercise room is nice -- although pretty obviously it is a former pair of hotel rooms converted into an exercise room. While rooms have received paint and carpet, the vents, sinks and floors seem to show some battering from the old days. Rooms also smelled a bit stuffy. Halls are somewhat narrow, and the housekeeping staff held loud conversations in Spanish outside the door. At one point, as I was coming back to the room, the maid was frowning at her checklist, then proceeded to enter our room without announcing herself (my wife was inside). Fortunately I intervened but certainly this shows a problem.

Overall, the renovated Red Lion is not bad, but there are a few troublesome problems here and there that leave a bad taste in your mouth.

  • Liked — renovations, lobby, front desk
  • Disliked — needs more improvements, housecleaning staff loud and incompetant

Booked a night's stay through Priceline. Payed $38. Enjoyed the hotel, but only because it was cheap. I wouldn't say it was particularly NICE but it was adequate for the price. A great deal, actually. I would have been disappointed if I'd have paid $109. Not a bad hotel.

We hunted for economical accommodation in and around Denver Airport. The Red Lion Hotel Denver Central(sic) proved a great bargain, only $62.30 plus taxes booked on the web. Not only was the accommodation of a good standard but on our return the newly refurbished rooms were superb. The staff, ALL of them, could not have been more helpful. The shuttle service was excellent. The journey to/from the airport took 25 minutes with a stop at the Doubletree Hotel, nearby. There was also an afternoon shuttle to/from the Northfields Shopping Mall-10mins. We used it to go for dinner one evening at one of the fine restaurants there, as well as dining at the Doubletree just for a change. A taxi cost $9 one/way. The hotel happily provide an “extra” morning service as one of the shuttle vans was free. We even used public transport to visit downtown Denver’s famous 16th Street Mall, (also with free shuttle) 33/43 mins. Superb breakfasts were served in our room. We had a meal in the hotel’s Café/Bar.

Ask for an updated room upon booking!

Otherwise it's not worth it to stay there. I made the mistake of not doing so when I reserved our room, as on the website they only post pictures of the new rooms. Imagine our surprise when we got our room, the lobby is fantastic...however it goes down hill from there. As of right now, only the first and fourth floors have been remodeled. Our room's shower had dirt clods and hair in the tub...upon running the water to wash it out, it backed up and things just got worse. Majority of the lights didn't work, unless you like ESPN or cartoons, you'll be bored with the channel line up. So upon the shower backing up I decided that was enough and asked to have a new room, an updated one. Our new room's AC doesn't work, there is a strange, loud, machine noise, but at least it's a newer room. Oh and the train coming through at all hours of the night is great for your sleep.

I am writing this review on my first of two nights at the Red Lion. I am very disappointed. My co-worker booked the hotel, and I thought it was a good price for what I saw on the website. Howver, I was turned off immeadiately upon entering the elevator. It was dirty and banged up. My room was right next to the elevator on the 2nd floor, so I expected it to be noisy. I haven't heard any elevator noise, but I hear a constant machine like noise, and the water from the room next door. The room is very outdated and I am scared to touch the old bed spread,. I have a lovely view of the roof. The curtains are gross and dirty. There are dirt marks on the walls and the furniture is beat up. A couple of the lights in the room don't work and the iron seems broken. I will probably have to sleep with the tv on to drown out the strange noises I hear in this room.

I ate lunch in the restaurant. The soup was good, but the salad looked gross, I ordered the artichoke dip with pita and was suprised only to get 8 little pita triangles. When I asked for more, I was told there would be a 75 cents charge. I paid it, but they should have put more on the plate. I also ordered pasta to eat. It was strange. The noodles were sort of undercooked, and swam in oil. The other ingredients were ok, and all that I ate. After reading review on this site, I will skip breakfast. I would never choose this hotel to stay in, no matter the great price. I need comfort more than a cheap room.
