Took the drive from Denver down through Idaho Springs then on up Mt Evans. The windy road is a little scary in parts no outside rail. Unfortunately we visited after Labor Day and the road was closed at Summit Lake, you had to hike the last 5 miles. Scenery around the lake is amazing, breathtaking, hiked a short way along the trail, high altitude so be careful, drink plenty of water before and during your visit, you may be lucky enough to see some wildlife. There is a national park entry fee which was very minimal.
