“Even for locals, worth the trip once or twice a year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I love this drive. The views, the hiking, the wildlife - all only 45 minutes from Denver. Plan a day and take the hike from Summit Lake to the top. It's a good break in for the 14'er season every spring.

“One of the best attractions in our Colorado Road Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

As you should know, this is the highest US paved road in continental USA.

The views are awesome and you can find some wildlife that you don't see very often, such as marmots and rocky mountain goats.

Be careful of altitude sickness.

Plan ahead because there are only a couple of months when it doesn't snow.

Interesting in terms of geography and flora. Beautiful alpine lake with snow on mountain above. Recommend.

“A bit of heaven on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Love the drive to Echo Lake (and beyond when the seasons permit). So close to Denver, but a world away. The easy walk around the lake offers beautiful views.

“Instant Rocky Mountain Awe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

For a fast introduction to the awesome Rocky Mountains, you cannot beat a trip up Mount Evans. It's hard to imagine a more dramatic and immediate entrée into the beauty and majesty of the Rockies then you are offered from the top of Mount Evans. If you're a visitor to Colorado or if you are hosting visitors to Colorado, do not miss this unique and easily accessible opportunity. Just about goats alone are worth the trip
