We booked the Embassy Suites for a convention which occurred conveniently directly across the street. The hotel appears to be fairly new with a hip and zen like interior, extremely friendly and helpful car valets, a water feature in the lobby and a large breakfast and bar area with expansive seating. The room was quite large altho a little strange with the window for the living room portion of the suite on the corridor- the blinds were always drawn thereby making the window useless and the room dark. The bedroom portion had the large window with the view out. The room furnishings were somewhat generic and probably the least impressive part about the stay altho there was nothing wrong really. Having been traveling for a week, I did make use of the gym, business center and convenient and spotless laundry room which was clean and as pleasant as laundry could be.
The highlights of the 4 day visit were firstly, the extensive hot breakfast service including omelet station- kudos to the omelet chef! I’d put this breakfast up against many other chain’s offerings. The only downside to breakfast was the poorly designed coffee area, way to small and situated right where the line for the omelet station forms. Embassy Suites Management- this is an easy fix which would require a small amount of rearranging and really something that should be considered.
In the early evening, the hotel hosts a “happy hour” including some snacks and a very nice selection of beer and wine along with mixed drinks via an actual bartender, all gratis. A really nice way to unwind before dinner..
Other minor issues: The fitness center was a bit small for a hotel this size but better than some hotels and certainly busy during my stay. I don’t recollect using Wi-Fi as there was a handy business center across from the fitness center with 3 computers. Some guests did have issues with the printers, actually all 3 of them as I watched people frantically trying everything to print with no luck. One morning, the elevators went down which is understandable. The staff did their best to usher people to the freight elevator but many guests found using the exit stairs and the signage for them totally confusing. I really hope with the signage (like doors that read “STAFF ONLY” which are really exit doors) that in the case of a real emergency, that no one is hurt. Embassy Suites should look into this as should the Denver fire marshal.
With all these seemingly pejorative comments, I would still highly recommend the hotel. All in all a great stay for a convention and I’d say well suited for a family stay also.
