“Wild & Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

The road up to Mt. Evans is very winding and twisty, but the views are magnificent any time of year that the road is open. There are usually mountain goats too. Be sure to take a sweater or light jacket because it's always cooler at this altitude than in Denver.

“Incredible views from the top!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We drove up in June and there was still snow in places. 80 degrees in Denver and 40's up there. Easy drive from Denver, good road and we had to wait on the way down for a mountain goat to meander past us on the road. The views are great from there and panoramic. Just keep in mind that it is a different climate up there!

“Hike or drive?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

This is a grat place to get a panoramic view of the Rockies. you can see the old observatory that was destroyed in a fire. The drive takes up to half an hour, so be patient. Bring a picnic lunch and sunscreen on a sunny day and enjoy the mountains.
There ares lots of plants to see that cannot be found elsewhere. you can take an easy hkie on some f the fatter areas to stretch your legs. If you are an experienced hiker / mountaineer this is a close drive from Denver (about 1 1/2 hours) to claim a 14er.

“An accessible fourteener”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Here's a fourteener where you can take the flatlanders visiting from out of town (or even Denver and suburbs) without worrying about the hike killing them. The parking lot at the top is just a couple hundred feet below the summit, itself a fairly easy hike. That said, it may be quite a challenge just walking around for the true flatlanders, so take plenty of water, aspirin and maybe even those little portable O2 bottles from the drug store. The views, Rocky Mountain bigorn sheep, and marmots are well worth the trek. Bring a jacket for virtually any time of the year, as it can be breezy and chilly, and even sleet or snow a bit, even in the summer. A must see for Denver-area visitors!
