“Great place to picnic, bike, run, or play.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

The park is on the east side of town and pretty easy to get to. Parking is street and it can get very crowded on weekends. Pay attention to the street signs for where not to park since they'll ticket, tow, or boot you. Yes, that is the famous Denver Boot!
Anyway, the park is quite large and has great paved paths around and throughout. There is definately a pattern for walkers, runners, and wheelers travelers of various sorts (not cars though). Lots of people with their dogs, you can get a fine if your pooch is off leash but you'll find some in the more open areas playing Frisbee and ball.
If you are meeting someone make sure you know where since it is a big place and easy to find yourself on the wrong end. There is a lake (big pond in my jargon) and a boat house building. The grounds are well kept and the gardens are very nice. Lots of people taking photographs. I would say it is a safe area and plenty of patroling.

“You have been to Denver until you see the Lakes at Wash Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

Lakes are lakes righ but stop by Washington Park and see why half of Colorado makes their way here on weekends to play in the park. Surrounds by lakes and gardens this is the perfect place to picnic or for a game of volleyball. The Wash Park Gazebo is more of an entertainment focus for the park in the summer of past this is where you would find loal dances and bands playing whilst young lovers danced the night away. Now you see wedding receptions and high school reunions and children running up and down the stairs as it is a stones throw from the play area. Most important are the lakes, beautiful in the summer and glorious in the winter. Come see for yourself! By the way I am a Native so I once fished in the creeks of the park during Huck Finn days and other cool events. The park is still a favorite place for me year round. Bring your bike, nets for VBall or your Honey for a stroll!

“beautiful and huge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

This reminds me of a nicer version of Boston Commons park, only Denver style. A really great place to walk, run, sit, meet people, just a great way to start or end your day... or both!

“WASHINGTON PARK-THE ATHLETIC MECCA OF DENVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

Whether it is jogging, running, walking, biking, volleybal, soccer, flag football, tennis, croquet, lawn bowling, paddle boating the lake or windsurfing the lake, it is all seen and done at Washington Park in Denver. In addition, it is a great place for a barbeque, a firm get together and the Denver Municipal Band will play there on Sunday nights in the summer. Washington Park is Denver's best area and park! There are certain areas close (Gaylord Street, Pearl Street, Denver University Area) that offer food and an additional variety of attractions. Although smaller, Washington Park is to Denver what Boston Commons is to Boston and what Central Park is to New York.
