This hotel was well worth the price, but then again we only paid $50 for it. It beat out the $150 I've stayed in, so would be a good hotel even at $150. Parking was free, but they can charge up to $10 a night.

Large and clean rooms with balconies. The bar, hot tub, and fitness center were good, but the pool was just ok.

Drinks are way overpriced, and the airconditioner was loud, no in house massuese.

Overall it was great. I plan to try to stay there again.

I am currently staying at this Mariott, and I am quite happy with it. My husband is in Denver on business, so I decided to come along as well because I had never been here. The hotel is conveniently located right off the freeway. There is ample self-parking, although the closest and best parking is reserved for valet parking.

Our room is a non-smoking room on the 2nd floor with 1 king bed. And that bed is SO COMFORTABLE. They actually have a catalog where you can buy the bed, and we are seriously thinking about it. The pillows, linens, and mattress are all decadent and wonderful.

There is a very nice work area in the room, with internet access at about $10/day. That also includes free local and long distance calls. There is a "sitting area" with a chair and ottoman. There is a full length mirror, which is nice, and a refrigerator in the room, although no microwave, which is a bit odd. We brought up leftovers from the restaurant to eat later, but we can't re-heat it, so...

Speaking of the restaurant, the restaurant we ate at here in the hotel, Compari's, had good food and excellent service. If we have a chance to eat there again before we go, we definitely will.

In the bathroom, the bath products are Bath and Body Works, there are 3 full sized towels, and the shower head is wonderful.

I was nervous about staying at this hotel because the other reviews were less than stellar, but I was pleasantly surprised. The wake-up call was on-time, they effortlessly scheduled a massage that I will have in my room later today, and the front desk was quite courteous.

The only two drawbacks are our "view" -- our room overlooks the roof, and it's pretty hideous. Also, the bathroom is small. However, to me, those are relatively small drawbacks, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — The comfortable bed, excellent service at the restaurant. Very clean room.
  • Disliked — Terrible view, small bathroom.

Not Typical Marriott Quality

Typically Marriott hotels are my favorite. I have always found the service to be excellent. That was until I stayed at the Marriott Denver Tech. I was there for 2 night. The rooms are large and nice. The bed is comfortable enough. The service and consideration for guests is horrendous.

When I checked in around 8:00PM two rooms on my floor had already used food service trays outside their doors. The following morning they were still there. I can't figure out why this hotel would leave dirty food trays in the hallway for over 12 hours.

One of the nights the fire alarm went off around 5:00AM. This was fine, but the staff was totally lacking in knowledge of what to do. Once it went off no apology was offered and no explanation was given.

One section of the hotel is largely under construction. I was put in room 245 which had one of the rooms next to it (room 243) and several around and above it completely under renovation. Well, the contruction workers begin work around 8AM and I was awakened on both morning by saws, drills, and hammering. Upon checkout I informed the woman who checked me out that the hotel should not be putting guests in room 245 because of the contruction on the floor. Her reply was simply an accusatory "There's no construction on the 2nd floor." When I informed her that I SAW workers in the room next to me because they had it propped open, she just walked away. I can tolerate bad customer service from ignorant employees, but I cannot tolerate someone acting as if I am crazy. What makes me most aggravated is that I was simply offering it as a suggestion so as not to [--] other guests in the future. But apparently, their $125 a night for that room is much more important.

There are plenty of other hotels in the area for the same price with better service. I wouldn't recommend staying here when you have other options.

September 6th through 8th 2005 – This was my first stay at this Marriott hotel. I will likely return.

I arrived early evening and check-in took only a minute or two. I received my guaranteed room type, king non-smoking. My room was #405 in the older 5-story section of the hotel. The room was pretty average, but I liked it because the sliding glass door opened onto the front of the hotel and it was very quiet. I intended to sleep with the sliding glass door open.

The room had a nice two level work desk with an STSN (Ibahn) HS internet connection. I had trouble accessing the system but was finally able to get online. However, the system worked only intermittently. After several calls to the help line, a hotel engineer arrived at my room with several new boxes. None of them worked and I would up changing rooms.

My second room, #583 was on the concierge level (5th floor) and was also a non-smoking king room. Before I did anything else, I checked to make sure the internet connection worked properly, which it did. I did not notice it until I finished my work, but this room was on the back of the hotel and faced I25. I am a light sleeper and the noise from the interstate meant that I did not get a good night sleep.

The next morning I stopped by the front desk and said that I would need to change rooms again. My request was handled quickly, but there were no king non-smoking rooms available. I wound up with room 7308, in the newer, tower section of the hotel. I did not like this room as much as either of the others because it had a much smaller desk, did not have a work-type chair at the desk, and the windows would not open.

Common to all three rooms was a unit that housed an empty compact refrigerator and a coffee maker. The bathrooms were small, but spotless. There were plenty of thick white towels. All of the rooms had the type of single room air conditioners that are not as quiet as whole-house systems. They worked well, but were somewhat noisy.

One of the best features of this hotel in my opinion was the Marquis Lounge, equivalent to the Concierge Lounge in most Marriott Hotels. The lounge was very large and comfortable. In the evening there were three different hot appetizers, chili, and a nice selection of fruit and cheeses. I ate enough that I considered it my dinner. In the morning there was a nice continental breakfast plus scrambled eggs. There is complimentary wireless internet access in the lounge.

For dinner my second night I decided to eat a full meal in Comparis, the full service restaurant. The food and service were excellent. It was one of the best and most enjoyable meals that I have had in a while. A glass of premium wine, salad, pasta entrée, desert and coffee came to $40 with tax. Jam, my waiter, gave truly excellent service and he looks a lot like Al Pacino! The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch also, but I only had dinner.

The rooms in the older section of the hotel are built around a 5-story atrium. Odd number rooms face outward and most of the even number rooms open onto the atrium. Within the atrium is the Great Divide Brewing Company, a bar and lounge. Right off of the atrium is the Front Range Trading Company which is a combination gift shop and Starbucks.

The health club is at the back of the hotel. The exercise room was quite large and had a good selection of equipment that all looked in excellent condition. The indoor pool area that also has a whirlpool spa is adjacent. Just out side is the outdoor pool. There were plenty of clean towels in both the exercise room and the pool areas.

There is a display in the lobby of what the rooms will look like after they are refurbished early in 2006. My guess is that the rooms will go from being comfortable, but boring to very comfortable and beautiful.

There is plenty of free parking all around the hotel as well as valet parking for which I think there is a charge. Walking through the lobby I was constantly asked by hotel associates if they could help me or direct me. The service at this hotel is excellent.

The Denver Marriott Tech Center is located at the junction of I225 and I25. It is almost exactly 26 miles from Denver International Airport. The hotel is located in a business park with a few restaurants. There is a FedEx Kinkos across the street.

I can highly recommend this hotel for the service. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, but nothing special. I am anxious to see this property after the rooms get an “extreme makeover” in 2006.
