They are currently in the process of renovating the Hampton Inn- DIA. Some things are very good (the room). Other things, could still use some help.
The hotel does need a lot more parking. It shares a lot with 2 other hotels and a diner. The lot was almost entirely full, and some parking spaces are fairly far from the hotel entrance if you have some luggage to carry.
The check-in desk is understaffed. When I was there in the evening, there were 2 people working and about 15 people waiting in line. Of the staff, one was very competent and pleasant, the other was not. When I was there in the morning, nobody was at the desk for a minute or two.
The room was very nice: large, quiet, and comfortable. The king-sized bed was large, and the bedding and pillows were great. One thing that was a bit silly are all the little Hampton Inn notes telling you how great the room was. The room was great and the notes actually took away from that! The only issue with the room is that it could (like many Hilton chain hotels it seems) use more tv channels.
The area around the hotel is out in the middle of nowhere near the nowhere that houses DIA. There is a grocery store, gas station, and some fast food joints down Tower Road. There are lots of other hotels and chain restaurants on Tower Road also. Contrary to a previous review, there is now a restaurant right near the hotel (probably built since that review), so if you don't have a car, you won't have to go hungry.
I didn't get to try the breakfast because it does not start until 6 AM. The shuttle leaves from the hotel every half hour (starting at 4:30 AM I think) and you need to reserve a seat the night before. Price was high ($108 + tax).
