We paid $380/night, with mixed experience. On the one hand, I would like to commend the staff as very friendly and clearly trying hard to accommodate most every request. For example, the concierge personally went out and found a particular bottle of wine I wanted presented in the room prior to my partner's arrival, which was earlier than mine. Everyone from the front desk to the front door were friendly and generally helpful. So why not a high rating? First, the staff was all young and clearly inexperienced, so even when trying, they would get some things wrong, and did not communicate well with each other. Mix ups included not sending an important business fax, and messing up the timing of a massage around availability of the room. Since they did not have the room ready in time (which was understandable except that they made the reservations), they rebooked the masseuse. This would be okay, but not when they added both massages to the bill. Even this wouldn't have been so bad, but they agreed that it was their mix up and reversed the charge, only to call back AFTER WE HAD RETURNED FROM VACATION to insist on adding the charge back on. Other bothersome things included room keys that just would not work. We had 7 key replacements over a 3 night stay, and by the time we left, of the two keys we had, only one worked. The room was also not quite up to expectations. The main disappointment was cleanliness. The one chair in the room (there was also a small sofa) was so dirty it wasn't comfortable to use. There were also subtle but noticeable black smudge marks on the ceiling, where it looked liked someone in maintenance had worked on lighting and the curtains. Unless you are used to the sounds of the city, be aware that their remodel of this older building did not include replacing the windows, so you get the full sound transfer that single pain glass gives you from busy city streets. I would still recommend this hotel if you can get a good deal, but not at the price we paid.
