I was attending a medical conference in Nov and chose to stay at the Hotel Teatro as opposed to one of the large convention center type hotels. I generally appreciate the boutique style attention to detail and personal service. Unfortunately I did not find this at the Hotel Teatro. Upon being given a tiny room at the end of the hall with views of a brick wall and noise and cigarette smoke drafting up to my window from the kitchen below, I asked if I might be swithced to another room (I was staying 4 days, which I thought warrented some consideration). I was curtly told by the manager that since I booked mt travel with Orbitz and was "given a very inexpensive rate", he was unable to accomodate my request. I not only found that attitute distasteful but also highly unprofessional. Further, the room I was given apparently had not been used for some time, as the shower/ bath water ran brown when turned on, and there was air in the pipes, causing a spray of toilet water upon flushing and a similar experience with the sink. Not what one would expect in a "Best of Denver" hotel. The only further attempt I made to engage the staff was to inquire about a restaurant I'd read about, and I was "brushed off" by the concierge who seemed more interested in looking at pictures of his car on the internet. This was not a friendly, warm or accomodating hotel in my experience, and if I return to Denver I will be staying at the Hyatt or the Marriott.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, this was a special stay. We were here to celebrate a 50th birthday and as the last stop on our 2-week motorcycle tour of the Rockies we wanted something that bit special, and that is what we got. Our tour organiser, H-CTravel, told us it was good, and they weren't wrong. The room service was faultless, the rooms every bit as good as we hoped, the service at the door, from parking the motorcycles to arranging the complimentary limo, was superb and the local restaurant recommendations excellent. And I have never seen public restrooms in the same class as those under the bar here!

We travel all over the world and finally we have found a true luxury hotel. The rooms are spacious and are beautifully decorated. The personal touches are fantastic; they will even send a staff member to draw a bath for you! This is a wonderful hotel with a fantastic location (the Denver Center for Performing is right across the street)! We highly recommend Hotel Teatro. We can’t wait to return.

Nice boutique hotel in Downtown Denver

Hotel Teatro is one of the nicer hotels in Downtown Denver, stayed here in Denver briefly as part of larger vacation throughout the Southwest. The hotel was in nice condition, especially considering that the building dates back to 1911. The room had high ceilings (which probably helped the small room look bigger) with a standard bed, good air conditioning system and a TV with lots of channels (no basic cable here). The bathroom however was really nice, with a rainbath shower, Aveda bath products (I'm not normally big on specific names but this stuff is great!) and a separate soaking tub. While some people praised the downtown location, I found it a bit isolated - it is across the street from a huge parking lot, and chances are you will be viewing that from your room as most of the hotel rooms face it. The Grand Hyatt and Westin, however, are right on 16th Street. Nonetheless, I would probably still prefer to stay here when I'm in Denver because of the nice rooms. Service is professional, and the late check-out (2pm with no hesitations) was a nice touch. Valet service was prompt and friendly (they are hungry for tips!) but they work hard to get them. Would stay here again if I happen to visit Denver.

Just got back from a three nite stay at Hotel Teatro. Hotel was wonderful, location is great for walking to both Lamier Square & the 16th Street Mall. It is right next door to the Denver Performing Arts Center. Staff very attentive to all requests, as they should be at a small luxury boutique hotel. Had a standard room with a queen bed. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom nice with separate shower and tub. Only drawback is that when there are performances at the Arts Center, it can be noisy when they let out. I'm from NYC so it didn't bother me, but my sister who is from Spokane was bothered the first nite by the noise. I recommend trying to get a room on a higher floor to muffle the noise. Otherwise, it is a great place and highly recommended.
