I had eaten at Hotel Teatro in the past and its excellent restaurants and facilities moved me to stay there when next I visited Denver. The room was excellent, well decorated with original art and bedding of very high quality. The workspace was twice the size of most hotel desks with free wired internet. The clock radio/CD also supported iPod and MP3 players. The TV was widescreen LCD. The staff was well groomed and agressively polite and helpful. Nothing came up that wasn't immediately handled. The complementary Escalade shuttle (within the local area) was an unexpected bonus. Given the combination of superb facilities, excellent staff and central location, I will never stay anywhere else when I am in Denver.

I travel frequently for work and have stayed in many high end Hotels, including the Ritz Carlton. This hotel blows all the others out of the water. Not only is the property gorgeous but the customer service and responsiveness I received during my stay excelled any other hotel I've ever stayed in. I surprisingly was upgraded the most beautiful room with tall ceilings, the most comfortable bed I"ve ever slept in, a gorgeous bathroom with a rain shower, huge bath tub and a small flat screen TV. The radio was also an Ipod doc so I was able to play my own music. My room was a complete mess (courtesty of yours truly) when I left for the day and when i returned all of my belongings had been gently organized, including my make up in the bathroom! Classical music was playing and the lights were dimmed, it was VERY relaxing. The even have turn down service. Even better was some of my colleagues stayed in chain hotels such as the Marriott and Hyatt for about the same cost!! I was able to book a room for $176 a night. I give this hotel an A+++

p.s.- I am not usually so impressed with hotels as I am so picky. This one blew my mind!

I was very impressed by the Hotel Teatro staff. The employees by the front door were always helpful, not only with bringing around our rental car, complimentary rides in the hotel vehicle, and always holding the door, but also with directions and sight seeing suggestions. I was equally impressed by housekeeping. Due to a health issue I have to make a special request in hotels, for them to avoid using air freshener and carpet freshener during my stay. In some hotels, there is so much built up scent that I can't stay there even if housekeeping remembers, and in other hotels they remember only the first night of your stay and then special requests go out the window. I had neither of those problems at Teatro. And they give you fresh fluffy towels twice a day! One night we ordered room service, and I was happy with them, as well. They called a short while after the meal was delivered, asked if everything was good, and offered to get our tray which we then left outside the door. I didn't see one room service tray littering the hallways our whole trip, the way I have seen in some other hotels. The hotel doesn't appear to have a service elevator, but if the staff needed to move a large item in the elevator, they always made sure they weren't in your way. The front desk and concierge were always eager to help, as well, I was never reluctant to call down if I needed something.

We had a corner king balcony room on the 9th floor. The bed was very comfortable, I had no trouble sleeping. As I understand it, these are the largest rooms in the hotel, and yet it really wasn't big for a hotel room, so I can see why someone in a smaller room might complain about the room size. The room had lots of windows and light, but if you wanted to block the light their was a set of opaque curtains you could pull over and you couldn't hardly tell it was daytime. Sometimes I propped the balcony door open for fresh air. When I booked the room I was told all rooms have windows that open, but I can't confirm this personally since I only saw a balcony room. There was some construction noise one day. The shower was great, with an overhead and a hand held, although I wish there was a way to control water pressure (might have been possible with the control on the overhead, but I could never reach that!) There was also a bathtub.

We didn't bring our laptop on this trip, so I used the business center from time to time. It has 2 computers and one printer. I was annoyed that Twitter was blocked, but I guess it's necessary to block some sites so people aren't in the business center too much and there's a computer free when you really need one.

One evening we saw a celebrity in the lobby, which was fun. I'll keep his identity to myself to preserve his privacy. I hope we didn't disturb him too much, we just said hello.

I don't carry fistfuls of money around, and didn't give anyone a tip the entire time, and yet everyone on staff was just as friendly the last night as they were the first night. (I'm planning to send a check to make up for the lack of tips. To be honest, I wish hotels took care of all the compensation and didn't even allow tipping.) Overall, this was one of the most relaxing and hassle free stays that I've ever had at a hotel.

We made plans to stay in downtown Denver for one night to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. My husband really wanted to stay at the Brown Palace because he had heard wonderful things about the historical hotel and we had never stayed there. We flew in from the east coast for a business meeting at the Broadmoor and a visit with family. We arrrived at the hotel late as our nonstop flight to Denver was delayed due to poor weather conditions. We were very tired upon arriving at the hotel and went up to our room (a junior king suite on the 9th floor). The room was nice, although a bit cramped. Basically the suite was 2 small connected rooms, one with a king bed, the other with a small sofa, two chairs, a desk and TV. The linens and towels were wonderful and the room appeared clean. The concierge at the hotel had gone home for the night so the doorman recommended a nearby restaurant, Rioja, to have a late dinner. Rioja is an excellent restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed it and our food.

Unfortunately right before leaving for the restaurant, I found a roach crawling on the floor in the bathroom. I decided not to make a big deal of it because I had chosen the hotel and did not want to make too much of a stink knowing that my husband would have preferred to stay at the Brown. We went to dinner and upon returning and getting ready for bed, I found another roach crawling next to the bed. At this point, I was thoroughly disgusted and wanted to leave the hotel but it was already almost midnight. We called down to the front desk and informed them about the roaches. They apologized and gave us the choice of another room on the 9th floor or another suite on another floor. My husband had to go downstairs to get the keys to look at the other rooms. I was surprised that they did not send someone up immediately to handle the problem. We decided to move to the 7th floor because it seemed a safer bet. They sent someone up to move us who went on to say that downtown Denver was filled with bugs due to the extremely damp weather. He seemed to think it was no big deal. Needless to say, I did not have a restful sleep that night. Luckily we did not see any more bugs. The manager offered to buy us breakfast at the hotel and we had a decent breakfast the next morning.

I wasn't going to post this on trip advisor but I do feel people need to hear the truth. This hotel is touted for wonderful customer service. Several days after staying at the hotel I received a form email from David Craig, General Manager of the hotel, asking about our stay and hoping it exceeded our expectations. He wanted to know if we had any comments or suggestions. I immediately responded and described our experience to him and voiced our concerns. It has been 12 days since our email and we have had no response from the general manager. For a hotel that has "excellent customer service", they certainly dropped the ball. After leaving Hotel Teatro we stayed with family in Denver and then moved on to The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, a lovely resort hotel with truly excellent customer service. Unfortunately, Hotel Teatro is second rate. Wish I had listened to my husband and stayed at the Brown Palace. To me, roaches in a hotel room are a "big deal".

We regret that you may not have received this reponse sent directly to you on July 8th, 2009 from our General Manager.

Thank you for taking the time to forward the details of the unfortunate experience you endured during your recent visit to Hotel Teatro. I was shocked and disappointed to discover that your stay was ruined by cockroaches.

I can tell you honestly that this is not something that is typically found at Hotel Teatro. I've been at Hotel Teatro for almost 7 years and this is the first case of cockroaches in a guest room that I am aware of. We practice regular exterminating procedures and engage in a number of preventative measures to avoid insects and other pests. We pride ourselves on the pristine presentation of the hotel and an incident such as this is profoundly disturbing.

I am concerned that you felt like you were treated with a lack of empathy and I can assure you that we will follow up aggressively with our team. An experience such as this one is disappointing enough. To have it compounded by anything less than genuine care is not acceptable.

I am quite confident that your experience was the exception and not the rule and I hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to earn your trust. We are capable of much more and I would appreciate the chance to prove that to you.

Please contact me at your convenience so that I may make the arrangements for your visit.

Please accept my sincere apologies,
David Craig

Wow, I mean wow this place is great. I got it on Hotwire, super deal. They upgraded me to a corner king for $30 super huge room. If you are super sensitive to street noise ask for a high floor. There is construction of the Four Seasons across the street, I was there on a holiday/weekend so I don't know how loud it gets, again ask for a room not facing 15th.
Super comfy beds, high quality sheets. Standard rooms have a nice tub, LOTS of towels, free internet and business center. Clean and nicely decorated. The best part is the bed for sure getting out of bed was the worst part. =) Walking distance to lots of great places on Larimer. Hotel local shuttle was a really nice treat.
