As a fan of the Kimpton Hotel brands, the Hotel Monaco in Denver did not let me down. While a little less hip and modern than some of the other brands in other cities, this one's decor seemed to fit the calm cleanness that I saw throughout Denver in my first brief but pleasant stay here.
The service was decent, mostly young employees who were eager to please. The room I stayed in was about 20% smaller than in previous Kimptons, not sure why but it was still fairly manageable. It was neat and clean with a decent size bathroom which somewhat made up for the room (maybe that's why the room was smaller?).
Room service was fairly on time and the food was decent but they continually forgot to provide water, even after specific requests. Perhaps they do a brisk business with the $6 bottles of water spread throughout the room (Denver dries us low-landers out quickly since it's so high and arid).
Dining in the hotel restaurant, Panzano, one night (alone), was a very pleasant experience with all-around excellent service and meal. The wine list is worthy of respect and could hold its own with many of our finer West Coast eatery’s.
I recommend this hotel (and restaurant).
