So it's in an old building, which means fairly small rooms and small bathrooms. But, oh! what the designers have made of those limitations! Bold & brassy & great fun --- and, with a few smart touches (such as a bathroom-wide granite sink counter big enough to hold all your costmetics )--- very easy and convenient. Extremely pleasant, welcoming staff. We also liked the wine-and-appetizer hour in the lobby for guests, and the luxury of having more towels than people in the room. Surprisingly good, actually excellent, restaurant! (We grew up in the era of nondesript-to-yucky hotel restaurants, thus our surprise) CAVEATS: to keep your car safe, you need valet parking, and it's expensive. The hotel is "pet friendly," so if you're allergic to pet hair, beware. My only peeve about the Hotel Monaco Denver: NO FREE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER HOOKED UP TO THE NET!!! Yes, they have Wi-fi for people who travel with their laptops. We travel really light, so we don't. But cheap chains offer at least one computer with Internet acces for guests' use; thus I regarded the Hotel Monaco's $3 charge just to check my e-mail as an insult. Would love to stay there again next time I'm in Denver, but would reluctantly choose a competitor that gives guests the opportunity to check e-mail.
