Our stay at the Denver Hotel Monaco in May 2004 was a perfect capstone to the most wonderful day of our lives.

We departed for a Parisian honeymoon two days after the wedding and thus debated about whether we should further splurge on a wedding night hotel. We are so glad we did! Our reception was at the Brown Palace, but we decided to stay at the Hotel Monaco when I found a $99 rate online.

When we arrived at the Monaco dressed in our wedding finery, the desk staff warmly congratulated us and upgraded our standard room to the "Grace Slick" suite. It was well appointed and luxurious in a quirky and colorful way. The suite was huge with great high ceilings and tall windows. We loved unwinding with champagne and Aveda products in our jacuzzi tub - tres romantique! We also got a kick out of the pet goldfish that was brought to our room.

We were married the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, so we were able to get free street parking (I've read that the valet rate is a bit steep). Also, the hotel restaurant was closed for the holiday, so the Monaco put on a complimentary continental breakfast spread Monday morning. These fortuitous aspects of our stay helped to make it a great bargain and lovely experience! We are looking forward to returning on our anniversary.

Stayed at the Hotel Monaco earlier this month for my anniversary. Notified concierge that we wanted a special, romantic weekend. When we arrived, she had saved us a special room, except we were not warned that the entire floor was having its carpet removed. After we tried to unwind from a Rockies game, the hammering got to be too much. We complained, and the best they could do was a room with two double beds (it was our anniversary! and I paid for a king!) and a bottle of champagne. We are laid back, so we just took it. Waited 2 hours for the champagne - while enjoying the free wine service and apps - which was the BEST part of the hotel! Then complained again, and finally received a king bedroom, views of the mountains and the bottle of champagne. So although in the end it was one of our best anniversaries, it took a LONG time and a lot of complaining to get it. For the price, stay at the Oxford.

We stayed at the Monaco and loved the room. It was on the second floor and had a view of the city, which wasn't the greatest but it was quiet. The designs in the room was unusual but somehow worked into a European feel. Our bed was only turned down the first night of our stay. The main problem we had was the valet service. Each day/night something went wrong from waiting a half hour at the curb for our car to losing keys. They also treated us in a very unprofessional manor and inappropriate comments from young staff. Despite this, the management was very accomadating and concerned upon check out. We would definetely recommend this hotel but due to these incidents we only rated it average. We would stay here again just use the parking garage next door.

I booked a king size room at a very reasonable price ($89/night) but then on arrival, I upgraded to a junior suite for an extra $25/night. I have some experience of good hotel rooms and have stayed in suites at the Ritz Carlton for a lot more, but I have to say that nothing can beat this elegant hotel for sheer romantic appeal. If you want a wonderful environment to ignite romantic feelings, look no further. Bring your favourite CDs, close the curtains that divide the bedroom from the sitting room and pour the wine. Enjoy the unmistakably Monaco-style decor and bed and feel like a king and queen when you wake up. What more can I say?

Truly awful. The room was extremely small and faced the back. I was awoken both nights by the garbage truck. The TV offered a yoga channel, and you could get a mat from the concierge. However, the room was so small, I have no idea where I could have done yoga! The room service came wring both days and took over an hour to come (when they quoted 20 minutes when I made the order. The internet service was down with no notice, and no apology. The hotel was terrible and the service was worse. I travel quite a bit (both business and pleasure) and have never had such an unpleasant experience.
