A friend and I stayed at the Hotel Monaco while attending a conference. We had the largest hotel room I've seen in ages; I was stunned when I walked in the door--high ceilings, huge windows. We shared the desk while working on our laptops, and when one of us stayed up late working, the room was so huge that the other could sleep without being disturbed! The service was great. I highly recommend the Aveda salon on the ground floor.

Stayed here 7/17-7/19. We got an amazing deal through travelzoo that included valet parking! The lobby, hotel, guest room was fantastic. Really can't say a bad word about the property. O.K., if I must, our room didn't have a good view. We overlooked a parking deck. You know what? Who cares. We hadn't requested one. Didn't fly the whole way to Denver to sit in a hotel room anyway. The Monaco is very centrally located and a quick walk to the 16th St. Mall. We were able to walk to a Rockies baseball game as well as walk to dinner on Larimer St. What a beautiful city and we felt incredibly safe walking around at all hours.

The Monaco is a very nice hotel. It seems to be geared towards couples and honeymooners. The rooms are well appointed. You can purchase lingerie (in the room's closet) and even an intimacy kit which consists of condoms and lube. The rooms also feature a large mirror which is strategically placed near the bed. That's not quite the same as having mirrors on the ceiling but it's close. The Monoco is also dog friendly. Denver must be the most dog friendly city in the world so the hotel fits right in.

The hotel only has one restaurant which is Northern Italian cuisine. Of course, if you don't like such cuisine, you're out of luck. I guess you can walk a block to the 16th St Mall and dine at one of the many "chain" restaurants.

In a city where parking is relatively inexpensive, the Monaco charges $26 per night for valet. Further, the rooms are nice. They resemble a room at the Hard Rock Hotel. But for $200 per night you should get a suite.

You'll enjoy your stay. Just be willing to pay a premium.

My son and I recently stayed at the Hotel Monaco and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We also got a great rate through Travelzoo; otherwise, I would not have been able to afford it. The wine reception was nice; however, you have to get there early if you want any appetizers. They only have a few and people are lined up waiting. We had a problem with the thermostat which I reported to the front desk personnel and when we came back that evening, we had a whole new thermostat. My only recommendation is that the hotel should have the "tourist maps" available for their guests which show where all the attractions are located. The hotel is very close to 16th Street Mall, LoDo, Larimer Square and the Mint with plenty of restaurants nearby. If you're planning to do other things, i.e. zoo, aquarium, museums, etc. I would not recommend staying downtown unless you have a car.

  • Liked — Great Price through Travelzoo
  • Disliked — Not near a lot of tourist attractions

No real complaints except the mattress defn has seen better days.... Room spotless, staff friendly and upbeat. The usual cirque de soleil decor......The clientele seemed to be a bit fraternity and soroity like....
