“Almost 5 stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Pros:
Excellent location, beautiful design, great helpful staff - always happy to assist you. Room quality was even better than in many 5* hotels I've stayed. Many details made my stay close to perfection.
The only con was breakfast. Generally speaking, I'm used to European style open buffet breakfasts. However a la carte can be an option, but unfortunately, we didn't like the food. Everything from the menu was quite fat and spicy. As an alternative you can have fruits & yogurt or order some eggs and pastry. There was no fresh cheese, salami (without chilli), no tomatoes or other fresh vegetables. Staff was kind and willing to help us but they couldn't change the food.
Overall impression - almost 5* and a place to come back to ! A big thank you to "Guest Service" for their professionalism!

Dear Valued Guest,

We're happy to hear that you enjoyed many of the fun perks here at Hotel Monaco, and that you thought our rooms were better than some of the highest ranked hotels! We do apologize that you were not completely satisfied with the food, but we are thankful for your opinion regarding it.

Arrived in Denver for a two day visit before heading out on a two week motor trip into the Rockies. We were looking for a centrally located hotel within walking distance of the sights of this city. As well, we do not like staying at the big chains, but prefer inns or boutique hotels, with individual charm as well as offering comfort. This very hip hotel, with it's Art Deco decor and warm ambiance certainly fit the bill for us. The decor has a quirky and interesting vibe. It is only a block away from the 16th street pedestrian mall ( serviced by a free shuttle bus) which we found to be a gateway to Denver's attractions. The lobby-lounge is large and comfortably appointed and fills up with clientele for free wine between 5-6 PM. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We stayed in a small suite. Any amenities that you require are provided for you. We asked about coffee in the room and they sent up a Keurig machine and fresh milk for us. The staff was friendly and attentive. We were asked on several occasions if everything was satisfactory and whether we had other needs. The price was definitely 'affordable luxury' since this hotel in a large East coast city would cost twice as much. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent. Make a reservation.
We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back.

Room Tip: We were offered an upgrade from a deluxe king to a suite at a discount by email about a week before...

It was a fun experience for all, including the dogs! We were part of a wedding which involved the entire group of attendants and several guests. The beauty salon is right off the lobby, the restaurant is excellent, with a happy hour in the well appointed lobby to add to a great weekend. The hotel is centrally located with shopping and other restaurants close by. Wonderful staff too!

Everything about my stay at the Hotel Monaco was exceptional: the service, the size and style of the room, the cleanliness of the hotel, the food at Panzano (hotel restaurant)... even the speed of the elevators. (I never waited more than a few seconds for an elevator.)

The staff welcomed me by telling me they'd upgraded me to a king size bed for free, and (because it was my first stay at the Hotel Monaco) they gave me a $5 voucher for the mini-bar. My room was lovely and big with lots of natural light (facing Champa street) and extremely quiet. I didn't hear any noise from anyone or anything during my stay.

It's all the little touches that makes this hotel so wonderful: the free coffee/tea service in the lobby every morning, the free bike rentals, the dog-shaped chalkboard in the foyer scribbled with the names of each furry guest staying at the hotel, the kitschy bathrobes you'll find in your closet when you arrive (along with a personal yoga mat).

I can't say enough good things about my stay there. Will definitely be coming back (when the Broncos make the playoffs - knock on wood).

Room Tip: If you're a fitness buff, book a room on the 5th floor where the fitness centre is located. Roo...

I am a sucker for little things - a goldfish for the room, free coffee & tea in the morning, credit for the mini-bar, and cruiser bikes to borrow. Fun extras at Hotel Monaco!
The location was convenient (we didn't walk anywhere except to Elways, but everything seemed to be under 5 miles away). Parking is valet - $33 a day (and the car was ready all but one time when we called down). There may be pay lots near the hotel that are cheaper.
Wifi was free (i think if you are a Kimpton loyalty club member). Room was spacious and pretty quiet (not a great view, but you are in downtown Denver). The bathroom had a pocket door, sink, toilet, tub/shower all in the bathroom. The only negative thing is that there isn't a fan in the bathroom (so shower fogs it up big time). But, a positive - great water pressure!
CE Bigelow toiletries - housekeeping didn't replace the soaps but brought us lots when we requested it.
There is fruit sparkling water in the lobby (nice touch, Denver is dry and was quite hot!). We didn't hit the wine happy hour event (somehow weren't ever there at that time each day), but sounds like another nice extra.
The attached restaurant seemed quite popular (with locals, not just hotel guests) and the food sounded tasty.
Gym was good sized (guessing maybe 5 treadmills) and they include a yoga mat in the rooms.
Overall - good experience and i would definitely stay again (and try Kimpton in other cities).

Stayed at the Monaco for two nights for a wedding. The hotel is located in downtown Denver. The hotel is very nice and the staff is very helpful. If you would like to bring your puppy with you, he or she is allowed. I normally get back pain sleeping on horrible mattress at hotels, but not this time. They provide free coffee in the mourning and wine at night in the lobby. We ate breakfast both times at the restaurant attached to the hotel, which was very good.

Only negative thing about the hotel is the parking. You can valet for $33 a night or park down the street on 18th street for $25 a night. I wish we just cabbed it and never got a rental car. the taxi ride from the airport is approximately $60.

I love all the Kimpton Hotels that I have stayed in (I even got married in one), and the Hotel Monaco in Denver is no different. I have stayed here several times over the last few years, and have never had a bad experience. The service is impeccable, all of the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The rooms are comfortable spacious and clean. The restaurant is delicious. You can't beat the complimentary morning coffee and evening wine reception. Location is right down town, only one block from the 16th street mall. Who wouldn't want to stay here?
