We stayed at the Residence Inn for 6 nights at the end of May/beginning of June. With 4 kids, (3 teenagers) we needed a place with a little more room, yet we didn't want to spend a fortune - and for the price of 2 average hotel rooms, we got a condo with 2 bedrooms,(one King bed, one queen bed) 2 bathrooms, kitchen, and a living area with a sofa bed. I agree with previous posters regarding the fact that the RI could use some upgrading/attention to upkeep - definitely the paint on the railings of the stairs was peeling, and the wood itself on the stairway seemed in some danger of rot - but for the price we paid which included a wonderful, hot, varied breakfast each morning, we think it was well worth it. Yes, the pool and jacuzzi are very small, but - did the kids care? Nope, they just wanted to get wet. The exercise facility is nice, with 2 treadmills, a bike, an elliptical machine and a weight bench with a nice set of weights. The breakfast each morning included scrambled eggs, make your own waffles, and each day something different such as french toast, or biscuits and sausage. They also had oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins each morning, as well as toast/bagels/english muffins, bananas or apples, juice, coffee/tea. Additionally the RI provides a "light dinner" Mon-Thurs, which we took advantage of on two occasions - one night was mac and cheese and salad with rolls; another was cheese or beef ravioli with salad and rolls. Not gourmet by any means, but very nice not to have to spend the $ on dinner every night and was much appreciated. Other dinner options(on different nights) included tacos, meatloaf, etc. In addition the hotel provides a shuttle van to take you downtown - we utilized this for a Colorado Rockies game and it worked great - and since parking in downtown can run $12 or more, it was a great savings. We also used the van for a run downtown to a restaurant - just called them as we were paying the check and were picked up within 10 min, so nice. We thought the staff was great - they were very helpful, provided laundry soap at the front desk (for a fee) for the laundry room, and also change for the machines, which was also very convenient - it meant I didn't need to do so much laundry when we arrived home. While we were there all the carpets in all the rooms were cleaned - it was a little inconvenient, but now you all know they're clean! :) We had a scary experience - we lost power one night about 11pm - and it was dark - but since we were going to bed anyhow, it wasn't that big a deal - my husband walked over to the front desk and they handled it well.
This RI is also very conveniently located to the freeway, 6 Flags Elitch Gardens, the Aquarium, and the many restaurants downtown - we also saw the musical "Wicked" at the Denver Performing Arts Center. We loved "Palomino" for dinner - you can see my review under Denver Restaurants. All in all I think the Residence Inn Denver Downtown was the perfect hotel for our stay.
