I was on a business trip with 6 others from my company and the Jet was recommended by our client since it was located close to the client's office.
The hotel does not have a 'real' lobby, but rather a lounge with a large bar that was decorated in black and silver. The front desk was in the back and off to the side so you could not really see it when you entered and the person behind the desk could not see who was comming in.
Since there were 7 of us in our travel group, we all got a chance to see a variety of rooms the hotel had to offer by visiting each other. Well, if you like contemporary K-Mart, this hotel would be your taste. The furnishings were modern, black & silver and the beds squeeked with the least bit of movement. Those with patios/balconies had full glass swing doors with only one lock which did not give a good sense of security. One of us had a room with sliding glass doors where the door latch was actually broken and thus appeared not to lock. There were also many inconsistencies between our 7 rooms, Some had hot water pots, some not, some had ample lighting, some not, some had soap and shampoo provided each day, some not. I also had towels in my room that had dark stains on them which one can only imagine what the source was.
Each floor had a lounge area when you got off the elevator. However, they are usually dark or dimly lit so you have to go to the wall switch to raise the light level. This also leads to a security concern. One evening we were meeting in one of the guest rooms and encountered an intoxicated person in the dimly lit lounge area on the 3rd floor. We proceeded to the guest room and after we entered the room the person came to the door and knocked. When we refused to open the door, he began banging on it and shouted obscenities demanding we open the door. It took multiple calls to the front desk and a threat to call 911 before someone arrived.
Another incident occured when a homeless person followed a member of our party into the lobby and to the elevator without being stopped by any of the hotel staff. The person being followed had to turn the person away. The homeless person was later seen sleeping on one of the sofas in the lobby while the staff just walked by and ignored him. Needless to say security at this Hotel is a concern!
The lounge gets a bit active around happy hour and unless you are in your 20's, tatooed, pierced and dressed like you are ready to engage in the oldest profession, you will probably not fit in. Also, later in the evening the lounge has porno playing on the TV.
We all tried to move from this hotel to another but there was a convention in town that had the other hotels fully booked.
Check out is another concern. The Hotel provides you with an invoice/receipt, but beware! The charge on your credit card will not match your receipt. All of us had extra charges added, which when we contacted the hotel we were told were for items from the mini bar. None of us used the mini bar! One person had $90.00 in extra charges.
I do not recommend this hotel!
