My husband and I just returned from Denver, CO, where we attended a conference. We stayed in Adagio B&B for one week, and we loved it! Helen, the proprietor, and Siyah, one of her employees (sorry if I misspelled the name), are wonderful ladies, very welcoming and kind. It was our pleasure talking to them.
Helen's breakfasts are something fantastic; I think, I have never had such breakfasts in my life! Helen would feed us even when we were late, too late for breakfast - which happened often because we felt so relaxed there. Moreover, there were some cookies and cheese available in the afternoon (unfortunately we were usually busy at that time and could not enjoy them). Of course, all our special requests for food were satisfied; e.g., I was sure there would be no bacon in my eggs (and how many times I had to remind about such things in the other places!).
Our conference was at the Convention Center, and it took us ~10 minutes to drive there from Adagio; or ~35 minutes on foot. Unfortunately, a walk on Colfax St is enjoyable only during daytime. For coming back from downtown in the night, one needs either to rent a car, or to take a taxi (I didn't like going by bus). But anyway, we liked the location of Adagio; there were some other beautiful houses around it - such a pity we could not stay there longer and investigate that district in more details!
Also, it was very convenient for such late-owls like us to have a couple of 24/7 cafes right at the corner, and a Walgreens next door from Adagio.
I am surprized that some TripAdvisor members complained about check-in; we had no problem at all. Our plane arrived to Denver at 11 am, and we simply called Helen to make sure we can check in at that time (although official check-in time is 3 or 4 pm). Helen met us at the door, and our room was ready.
Our Handel room was very nice, with a large walk-in closet (ladies would appreciate this!), and there was a number of books and magazines in the shelves, and lots of decorations everywhere. There were all the amenities we could need (coffeemaker, iron, etc); wireless internet connection was good, too. We used to return there late in the evening, and the candles were burning in our room, waiting for us - we felt like coming back home.
Altogether, Adagio is beautiful, cosy and romantic at the same time. I have some travel experience, and I say - Adagio was the best B&B in my life. Helen, we miss you! (and your breakfasts!)
I hope very much that we will come again.
