“good location/icky rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

If you are in town for a concert at the Fillmore (such as we were) and want to be close this is perfect. However, you get what you pay for and this room was definitely not the cleanest by far. If you just need a place that's cheap to crash for the night then it works- I definitely would not stay here longer than one night.

The West side of the hotel overlooks a LOUD patio bar that will keep you awake until 2:30 am. The East side of the hotel overlooks the 7-11 where all the neighborhood gangs and homeless hang out. On either side, you'll get the NOISY street out front. It must be close to the fire station because every 10 minutes a fire truck blares by.

Room was OK - but no coffee maker or hair dryer - have to trek to the lobby for ice. Parking was free, but you're parking right by where the local gangs hang out.

Room Tip: Get on the 4th or 5th floor on the East side.

Tired and a bit dingy hotel. Not a great neighborhood, especially concerning if you're on the ground floor. Very limited parking.
On the plus side, fairly priced for downtown Denver. And walking distance from several fun bars.

Good price, average room and friendly staff. Nice firm soft bed and was happy with good air conditioning. Internet was very slow. The location is decent but I wouldn't walk outside at night. Too many homeless and beggars everywhere. The Gar Bar next door was too loud. Few restaurants a few doors down and a store. I'm not sure if I would stay here again.

We were searching for a downtown Denver hotel on a cheap travelers budget. in the end this looked like the best value but other reviews made me a little leary of it. Well dont believe what other people have to say. For a bed, shower, and a place to sleep you cant get any better value than this.
The room was clean, decor was fine, AC worked, staff was friendly, we were on the second floor and had a great view of the city skyscrapers, the neighborhood was active but safe at night. If you expect to go to a city and not see homeless people or drunks then you should probably just stay out of the city. The only complain I had was the mattress had a plastic covering over it but it was still comfortable.
The best part about it was the distance from downtown. We got there around 7 at night and left for dinner around 830 we walked all the way to 15th and Wazee, ate, and walked back by 1030. The 16th street mall and business district is about 7 blocks away. if you are looking for location, then this is the place to be, everything else that was great about the hotel was just an added bonus.

Aside from the plastic enshrouded mattress the rooms are fine. When considering the cost per night in Econo Lodge Downtown Denver...seven or eight short blocks to the Colorado Capital Building and nine or ten blocks from the super "spendy" ($200 to $500/ night) four and five star hotels in the center of town, this hotel is an excellent value. The staff here is very helpful.

There is a restaurant about two blocks away and across the street from the hotel called "Tom's Diner". It is right out of a scene from 'Pulp Fiction'....and the food is worthwhile. I recommend it just for its ambiance alone.

Staff friendly and helpful. Didn't get breakfast as left at 5.40am. Room clean, bed reasonably comfortable, air con heavenly. A bit of a walk out of the city and the surroundings were somewhat more run-down than I was expecting, but nothing I worried about.
