“Beautiful rooms, helpful staff, pleasant surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

The room was beautiful and clean, also fairly quiet (even near the elevator). We had the option to let the fan run on the ac/heating unit and it provided a good white noise background.

The bed wasn't as soft as I like but adequate. The only peculiar thing in the room was that it was booked for three people but there was only one serving of regular coffee and decaf in the room. We were able to secure more from the staff the next day.

The breakfast buffet might seem a little high ($17) but it has a wide variety of offerings including an omelette station. Food was good with standard breakfast fare from eggs, meat and potatoes to cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and pastries. The coffee was bold and they have great fruit smoothies! A small sampling of the daily smoothie flavor along with orange juice and coffee were included in the buffet.

The facility is top notch. I attended a function while there and the ballroom was more than adequate. Water stations with iced water and glasses were provided in several places in the lobby to accommodate the 900 plus attendees.

Another plus is that there is shopping literally 5 minutes away. Directly across the street is Home Depot, WalMart and Sam's Club, several restaurant choices including IHOP and Panera Bread (a personal favorite!). Additionally, there is a Ross, Famous Footwear, Party City and more.

Head north on Quebec just past I-70 a couple of miles and there is a beautiful shopping area called Northfield with lots of restaurants, a theater and great shopping including Charming Charlie, a fun jewelry and accessory store!

Thank you for providing such a helpful overview of the area around our hotel! We’re thrilled that you enjoyed our facilities, accommodations and restaurant in addition to our location. The Renaissance Denver Hotel is located close to a number of convenient shops and services. We are also a few miles from downtown Denver and a short distance from area attractions like Denver Botanical Gardens and Denver Zoo. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back during your next trip to explore this exciting area in Denver.

The hotel was excellent. Beautiful, great service and excellent value. Wanted to stay downtown, but the price difference made driving downtown well worth it. Only issue we had, a/c unit didn't work the 1st night. Got pretty warm. Called desk before we left in the morning, left us a Voicemail before lunch that it was fixed. The Vivace restaurant is not recommended. We had breakfast there Sunday, and although the food was good, $10 for two slices of french toast was ridiculous. Friendly service, but go across the street to Ihop and get twice the food for half the cost. Didn't eat there at any other meals.

We (my husband and I - both seniors) were booked on a 9:50 a.m United flight (arranged by Air Canada) to San Francisco and then on to Reno. After a flight cancellation by Air Canada (no apology and no help, except for a cursory instruction to go and find an Air Canada ticketing agent to rearrange the itinerary), we were forced to spend the entire day waiting in YVR for a 3 p.m flight out to Denver and thence, to Reno.

The 3p.m flight was delayed by an hour, due to a medical emergency that forced it to land in Seattle. This blew our connection time in Denver. Thus, we had to spend the night in that city.

United set us up with a hotel helpline and so we came to the Renaissance, Denver.

By the time the courtesy bus dropped us off at the lobby of the stunning, modern hotel, we were absolutely exhausted as well as ready to eat a couple of horses!

The hotel inside is absolutely gorgeous, with rooms built in a tower facing an interior atrium. They have a pub-type casual restaurant that stays open 'till 11pm, so we were able to get a very tasty, very large, bite to eat before retiring. (Unfortunately, the experience was marred by a drunk who had camped out at the nearby bar and was using the "f word" loudly and continuously as he confided in the barman.)

The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The usual shampoo etc were supplied and this, together with a United overnight pack, which included a razor, toothbrush and deodorant wipes etc., made us feel human again.

The next morning we ate breakfast in the Italian Restaurant and we can thoroughly recommend the delicious omelettes. We were placed in a booth-cluster in the centre of the room, putting us very close to other guests. This was not pleasant owing to the presence of a large number of conference delegates, who loudly talked shop all through the meal. The spacious room is surrounded by big screen tv's., all running CNN and suchlike - so the ambience is very business orientated

The courtesy bus arrived promptly and we had a quick and easy +/- 25 minute drive to the airport, where the driver made sure each passenger got off at the correct entrance. Note: You have to book the trip when you check in, so allow sufficient time for yourself. We worked on two hours and arrived at our gate nicely in time, for our, slightly delayed, connecting flight to Reno.

We stayed at the Renaissance Denver for two nights - at the beginning and end of our vacation.

Both times, we had a lovely stay, the facilities are great, and the rooms are lovely - spacious and very clean with great views.

The first night was great, we nipped over to the iHop for breakfast, and then grabbed a cab to take us to pick up our RV for our main vacation.

The RV didn't come with any pillows and bedding, so we purchased these from Walmart. After dropping off the RV and returning to the hotel for our last night before our journey home, we brought all of the pillows and bedding back to the hotel with us.

One of the pillows was damaged during our vacation, so I left this in the bin at the hotel.

To be clear - this was a pillow bought from Walmart - NOT a hotel pillow.

Anyhow, after returning from our trip, I was very surprised to find I had a $25.00 charge on my credit card, apparently for "damage to property"!!

I called up the hotel, and they said we had damaged their pillow and so were charging for it. They would not accept my explanation and assurance that it was a pillow we had bought ourselves for our trip in the RV.

Other than the surprise charge on my credit card, and a very long train that tooted it's whistle through the night (there's a railroad right next door), we did have a lovely stay at the hotel. It's just a shame that it was soured at the end.

We’re happy to learn that your stay was enjoyable and you got to explore the area in the comfort of an RV. We were surprised to hear however, that there may be an incorrect charge. Thank you for reaching out to us and letting us know that this situation has not been resolved to your satisfaction. Your comments will be reviewed further by our management team and we appreciate your patience. Any inconveniences you may have experienced are truly regrettable and we hope this will not deter you from choosing to stay with us again. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back to the Renaissance Denver Hotel in the near future.

I've rarely stayed somewhere that every single staff member I encountered made me feel welcome ... This was one of those places. I arrived after midnight and used an airline voucher for a discounted rate with no problems or complaints. Check in was friendly and speedy. The hotel seems to have been recently remodeled and was clean and well kept. I loved the big windows without a smudge on them. But again, what set them apart was the staff. Helpful, considerate, friendly, and efficient. I will stay here again given the chance.

Stayed here on business while visiting the UC Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. There are one or two closer hotels but this had a much better rate. Room was nice and clean, and the free breakfast was plentiful and uncrowded. It is far from both downtown and the airport, and the trains are pretty loud in the middle of the night, but would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Mountain views on the west side
