To Whom It May Concern,
Having arrived "back east" after an exciting and informative visit to Denver, I want to share with your readers some observations about the Queen Anne B&B Inn in Denver. This trip, for both professional and personal reasons, brought back many pleasant memories for me. Many years ago, on a whim, I took a chance and decided to stay at a B & B during a conference in Denver rather than at one of the conference hotels. The Queen Anne was my first B & B experience and that stay ,hosted by proprietor Tom King and sons Chris and Dave, has been since that first visit the standard against which I have measured stays at other B & B Inns in many states and countries. Whenerver my travels take me through or to Denver, there is never any doubt in my mind where I will stay. I always come "home" to the Queen Anne. Why do I choose the Queen Anne? Certainly it is within walking distance of historic, cultural, and convention sites, could it be the charming Victorian architecture, maybe the convivial conversations with world travelers brings me back. The primary reason for my returns to the Quenn Anne is that it reminds me of the Holiday and Summer visits to my grandparents home in New York City when I was young. the Vctorian architecture of their home was similar to the Queen Anne and their home was also filled with tempting tastes, exciting conversations, of travels near and far, and that special "feeling" of an all embracing cordial hospitality which my brother and sisters looked forward to. We did not have to be reminded to be on "our best behavior" we would have done nothing to distrub the magic of Grandma and Grandpa's oasis in the City. The magic of delicious food, tales of travels and travails, and warm hospitality is present in abundance in the Queen Anne. That is why I return to the Queen Anne in Denver. Tom King, his sons and staff, have created, and maintained, a cordial magical haven, a soul, in the heart of a busy urban center,
Thank you Tom King, Chris and Dave, and staff.
Yours,
Frank Richardson, Ph.D

This is not a good place to stay. My husband and I stayed for one night in the roof top room. There was black mold in the shower. The mattress was worn out and very uncomfortable. The linens were thin and cheap. For breakfast we were served an omelet that was frozen packaged and microwaved. The room rented for more than $200 per night. For the price the accomodation was awful.

We should have read all the reviews first. That being said, here goes. We realized cleanliness is subjective, but, layers of dirt, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, mold in the bathroom and a faulty air conditioner are not subjective. We looked forward to our stay at this BnB. We were exhausted when arrived to check-in and did not take a thorough look at "Garden" room. The room is actually a basement room with poor ventilation. At 2 a.m. our time we returned to room to sleep. We pulled back the tired looking comforter to find dirty, shabbing looking sheets. Oh, lest I forget, a toenail clipping on the floor. The towels in the bathroom were old, tired, stained, rough and not entirely fresh smelling.
The one good thing was the breakfast and other travelers were awesome. We realize the room is not at the top of price list, but gosh does cleanliness have a price?

I don't know why, but the Denver-area B&B scene is NOT comparable to other cities. After disappointing stays at two other Denver B&B's, I decided to give it one more shot and try the Queen Anne, which was listed as "Best B&B in Denver" by the Rocky Mountain News. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. The Inn is comprised of two restored Victorians on the east edge of downtown in a marginal but quiet neighborhood. The reception area is a messy assortment of papers, books, office paraphernalia, and tchotskes. The living room has uncomfortable, mismatched furniture and a bizarre fake rock water fountain. The rooms seemed to be of varying sizes, but the three I saw were certainly nothing special in terms of decor, antiques, or other furnishings. My aging bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathrooms were aging as well, with inferior plumbing and sinks and few amenities. Breakfast included good coffee, dried cereals, and fresh fruit set out on a buffet, and either a prepared warm scone or french toast, neither of which was extraordinary. The proprietor and his son were gracious hosts, however, and I wished I could have been more positive about my visit fot their sake. All in all, though, I found this B&B faded and well past its prime, resembling the wilting flowers in brown water that appeared throughout the inn. When in Denver, I'm afraid you get more value for your $$ in a hotel!

This is a nice historical home run by a friendly staff. Nothing fancy, but quite comfortable. The area around the B&B is also historical and many homes have been rennovated. What isn't restored is a little rough looking. Due to the superior service we received, we rate this B&B highly.
