“Great B&B and haunted to boot...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2011

Stayed over the 4th of July. Great view of the fireworks show.

Although small and a little pricey we found the "old hospital" very comfortable, clean and abounding with great service.

The best stay...so far...in Cripple Creek.

14 of us toured Colorado this year
Susan was a huge help and on our visit we were looked after really well.
The rooms were excellent, there was a small bar and the breakfast was lovely
If you are staying in Cripple Creek and need somewhere slightly unusual and eclectic which surely most people want then pay them a visit

It did have some positives: a ceiling fan in the room which helped keep us cool, two sinks--one in the bathroom, one outside of the bathroom, good hot water and water pressure in the shower, and the room was beautifully decorated. But--our room was extremely small; we crawled over each other to move around. There was almost no table space--nowhere to put anything, though there was one luggage rack. One side of the bed did have a nightstand, but I had to put my watch etc. on the floor when on the bed. There was no closet, though there were a few coat hangers on a small coat rack. The floor squeaked so loudly we could hear our upstairs neighbors going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and our downstairs neighbors, I'm sure, could hear us. The bed was terrible and my back was killing me in the morning. I had to ask them for shampoo.

At night we went out but could not find the restaurant the hotel had recommended. We called three times, but they didn't answer their phone....(approx. 8 pm).

This place is overpriced for the value received.

We got a look at some other rooms when housekeeping had the doors open; there were bigger rooms than ours.

Room Tip: To get a better room, be ready to pay excessively.

Hostile staff who acted like they had better things to do. They've spent a lot of time refinishing the building. Now, get to work on the attitudes !

We were going for a weekend after a hetic 5 months to get away from it all. I looked at the website and the hotel looked a really nice place to stay. So I booked a king suite, that was supposed to have a sitting area and Sun room. Well the sitting area was a chair in the room, with a king bed. The sunroom was okay, but they never insulated or did anything with the windows. It was cold. Well, when we first showed up there was a note on the door stating that they would be back at 3pm, not a problem, we were early. We came back and when we went to the front desk, there was nobody around. We pushed the button on the phone for assistance and buzzed and nobody showed up, we did it again, then the Owner? showed up. Did not even say hello or how may I help youu. No customer service, just said the amount for the room. We paid, and got the keys. The room was nice and cleaned, well maintained. Off we go. We come back and the radiator is on, good because it was cold with the wind blowing. About 12:30am we woke up and it was about 90 degrees in the room. No way to regulate the temp in the room. We opened the door to the sunroom and openned the window. It was so hot in that room we could barely, and I mean barely sleep. We informed the women and we go another room that was supposed to be cooler for the night. We did not stay. We left. We also got the impression that we were not the type of people that they wanted to stay there. A married couple mid 50's, no kids, just trying to get a little time away. I will never stay there again. We never asked for a refund for the 2nd night, we just chalked up to experience.

Wanted something different for our 1st Anniversary and took tripadvisor reviews into consideration when I choose it. The place is the former hospital for Cripple Creek going back to the gold rush days, turned into a B&B/Hotel and Bar. The place has a great view of Cripple Creek and surrounding mountains. The place has been converted nicely and the bar is done in Victorian decor. The room was great and the bed was excellent. Nice bathroom. The hotel is on a casino bus stop to all the casinos on the main street which is nice has the hill to the hotel is a climb. Check in was easy, but after that the service was terrible. I reminded the person at check in that I had ordered a champaign/cheese tray with my reso. When we returned from dinner, the chanpaign had not been sent up. Had to walk down to the front desk (No Elevators) and ask about it. 30 minutes later a man showed up with tray. The next morning, we had to ask for butter and the coffee pot to be refilled in the breakfast area. The breakfast was normal. I recommend this place over other places in Cripple Creek but needs some work on providing services for their guests.

Stayed at the Hotel St Nicholas on Feb 19th. Had a wonderful time. Even made the walk up heart attack hill. The staff was wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable and a joy to be around. The hotel itself is nostalgic in its appearance and decor. My wife and I loved the room we were in and did take a look at some of the others and were also impressed with them.
If you like turn of the century styles and atmosphere, you too will like a night’s stay.
