“agree with those who gave poor reveiw”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2009

I agree with those who gave bad reviews. A great view but that was about it. We too, left without breakfast on the second day. Breakfast was not served until after 9. Never saw Peggy. Would give up the view for a more friendly place to stay

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Peggy and Ed were very nice. We were welcomed with a sign wishing us a Happy Anniversary. They always seemed to be availble, and yet gave us our space. They directed us to restaurants in the area for dinner. We enjoyed playing pool and darts in the recreational room. We felt more like a guest in a friend's home. The view in the Mountain Suite is everything that was advertised and more. Everything was clean and comfortable. The road getting to the house is a bit rustic, but it was easy to get there. The breakfast was awesome - fresh fruit parfait, omlet, bacon, muffin, coffee, juice. We will definitely stay there again when in the area.

My girlfriend and I visited for 3 nights in late August (08) and were greeted by Ed, who's calming voice was the remedy for 12 hours of hectic driving. As the B&B is out of Cripple Creek ensure to double check your directions. First thing I noticed my first morning was the sweeping hills filled with pines giving way to canon city. We were in the garden room which mixed warm decor with modern comforts. The hot tub was popular. The daily changing breakfast was great - the muffins particularly. On our final morning Peggy baked us fresh muffins (despite our early departure) because she knew we were fond of them..thanks Peggy. This is a haven for a quiet weekend with the surrounding nature providing the soundtrack. The hosts were great and I would visit again if I am ever back near Colorado Springs.

My husband and I spent four nights in the Mountain Suite. Our room was wonderful. We had a magnificant time at the Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast. We can't say enough good things about the place. Peggy and Ed are very friendly. It was an absolute pleasure meeting them. This place is definitely one of the hidden gems of Cripple Creek, Colorado.

We read the reviews after we booked and were a little concerned about "motel 6 with a view" comments. After 5 minutes at Whispering Pines we knew we had made an excellent choice. Hosts were eager to please, breakfast both mornings was outstanding, We stayed in the Garden Suite and loved everything about it. Tub was big enough for two to sit side by side, air bubbles were so relaxing. Hosts gave us numberous ideas of places to go and see and restaurant recommendations. Hosts even took us on a 4-wheeler ride in the mountains unsolicited. We can't wait to go back again. Bed was super comfortable, TV reception good also. View from room was spectacular.

I recently spent a wonderful week at the Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast in Cripple Creek, Colorado. Although the nearby casinos in the town of Cripple Creek didn't interest me, the natural beauty and fascinating history of the area did--and Whispering Pines proved to be the perfect base camp for daily explorations. Our room, the Wildflower Room, was quiet and comfortable, private and well-appointed. A highlight was lying in our very comfortable bed at night watching the lightening over the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Our gracious hosts, Peggy and Ed, were unobtrusive, but very helpful when needed; offering great suggestions for hiking, fishing, gold-panning, antiquing, fossil-hunting and driving the scenic, nearby canyons (the Shelf Road and the Phantom Canyon Road are literally breathtaking). The generous breakfasts were creative, nutritious and beautifully presented. Whether surrendering to the one-armed bandits in town, hiking the flower-filled (we counted 22 different varieties!) meadows above town, shooting pool with the other guests, or just lazily swinging on the porch swings watching the 360 degree parade of wildlife, this peaceful respite would be a first-rate choice for any reason: a honeymoon, an adult family reunion, or just a weekend getaway to one of the most gorgeous parts of the country I've ever seen. Thank you Peggy and Ed, for one of the best times I've had in my life!
