“High Canyon Walls on both sides”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

This road between Canyon City and Victor/Cripple Creek is a great adventure. Less than 30 miles, navigable with most cars unless recent bad weather. Tunnel, bridge and canyon driving make for a delightful Colorado experience. Wonderful photo opportunities abound. Rock strewn stream bed beside the road is a great place to cool off your feet. Picnic and rest areas along the way. Recomment Phantom Canyon to the mining district and Shelf road back to Canyon city, or reverse. Either way the sights are breath taking.

“Real taste of a dirt road”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We took this road as a 'short cut' from Canyon City, although it actually takes longer. It is all dirt, and in places is very narrow, andvery close to some eye watering drops. But the scenery is beautiful and you get to about 10000ft, so its quite high. You don't get good fuel mileage here because of the terrain. Well worth the experience

“Awesome Scenic Road Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012 via mobile

Get a full tank of gas and take this winding trip through the canyon slow. We saw plenty of wildlife and enjoyed the scenery. Drive through cool tunnels cut through the rock. Highly recommend!

“OMG!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Do not be caught in this canyon after dark. We made that mistake (once). Never again. Just be sure you only travel thru here during the day time. Beautiful and well worth the long drive if you are coming from Canyon City or from Cripple Creek.

“Long rub board road”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

It was great and beautiful the first couple miles... Then it started to wear on us. Thirty miles of rough bumpy gravel road. The tunnel was neat though
