We absolutely loved our stay at The Lodge, we got an upgrade to a beautiful one bedroom which was fab- had two balconies with great views. The kids loved playin in the snow on the patios which was nice cuz the parents wanted to stay warm. The staff was so friendly and going the wknd of Thanksgiving was a treat b/c there were no crowds. Have been going to CB for years but have found our new spot to stay. Thank you Lodge at Mountaineer square. The pool was a great treat too!!

The staff at The Lodge at Mountaineer Square made us feel like family, yet they weren't all in-your-face and bothersome like other places I've been where they try too hard. Nice! The bed in our room wasn't the most comfortable I've been in, but the rooms were large with plenty-o-room to spread out. In town there are fanTAStic places to eat, AND there are good choices right there in the resort courtyard, too.

Only two negative things to say... First, watch your step in the bathtub! Woo! That thing was slippery. Second, if you're picky about your coffee, bring your own. Decent coffee makers, but their coffee was not good at all.

One last thing about the room, if you're a light sleeper, request a high a room as possible to get away from the street noise. It's not bad unless you're a very light sleeper, so be aware.

We stumbled across a great great trail near Crested Butte, too. Wow! Aspen grove forests, pines, streams, deer, beautiful large grouse with little chicks... nice. West Elk trail. Leads to Beaver Pond, which has trout jumping out of the water mouthing "Catch me if you can" with their little lips. Tell 'em I said hello!

The Lodge is an excellent place to stay in Mt. Crested Butte. We were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Miller by the front desk everytime we passed. The housekeeper catered to our needs as well. Such an excellent property to stay at. Totally worth the money we spent.

I've just returned from a six day stay at the Lodge and I couldn't have been more impressed. The Lodge is the hub of the base area and it's a short 50 yard walk to the slopes. Guests of the Lodge receive complimentary over night ski storage at the "Outpost" Day Lodge immediately adjacent to the Lodge which is actually even closer to the ski slopes! You can easily ski to within 15 yards of the court yard at the end of the day. The court yard has a fire pit which makes it convenient for a gathering place.

I had the pleasure of staying in Unit 607, a two bedroom, three bath residence with awesome mountain views from the terrace. Being on the sixth floor, this unit offered vaulted ceilings. There was a gas fireplace, comfortable leather sofa and three flat screen televisions. Everything was new, clean and bright! They provide you with bath robes during your stay which makes coming and going to the health club a pleasure. The pool, while small, and the hot tub are an added bonus. A nice business center was located just down the hall. General Manager Chuck Donnelly and his staff have done an excellent job and all provide top notch service.

Immediately adjacent in the same building is the transportation center with complimentary bus service into the town of Crested Butte every 15 minutes. Always on time and very convenient. You'll want to take the bus into town as the ski area base village clears out pretty quickley after skiing (if you've ever been to Keystone or Copper Mountain, CO, you'll know what I mean!). The town of Crested Butte is a beauty and the most authentic ski town in Colorado (I've been to just about all of them). Crested Butte is no Aspen or Vail and thank goodness for that! Locals riding bicycles and dirty pick-ups mix with the tourists on main street. And everyone seems to have a dog. I sensed a genuine feeling of friendliness from everyone I encountered, be it local or tourist. I wonder if it had anything to do with the smell of "funny" cigarettes which seems to permeate the air here?! People who call Crested Butte home are there to enjoy what nature has provided, and they do it with gusto! Now the challenge is to preserve Crested Butte and to keep it from becoming just another Colorado ski resort choked with traffic and trophy homes.

If you are going to Crested Butte, expect excellent skiing, stunning scenery and a real cool vibe. And don't think about staying anywhere else than the Lodge at Mountaineer Square!

Hospitality is defined as friendly and liberal reception of strangers or guest or another shorter phrase would be "The Lodge at mountaineer Square." Excellent service, located so that you can 'ski in/out' No skis or snowboards are allowed in the rooms which helps maintain the property. The Staff and even the House Keepers seem to enjoy their jobs.

An awesome destination. Has the best difficult terrain but also has plenty for everyone else. Almost never a lift line so plenty of time to ski.

Chuck Donnelly is the General Manager at The Lodge at Mountaineer Square and does a great job. If you have any issues he and his excellent group will address it immediately. We were very happy with our stay.
