“Great slope slide resort, great skiing and wide diversity of trails, tons to do even though not crowded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2011

This is a great slope side lodge. There was a team spirit and I noticed that everyone who was available was always willing to help others even if they were in different job categories. This seemed to be occuring from the top down as I noticed the General Manager (Chuck Donnelly) never hesitated to chip in and help other employees. The skiing is awesome and the terrain is varied allowing everyone the opportunity to find what's right for them. Also, although the resort is not crowded and lift lines are always short, the town of Crested Butte is charming and there are an amazing number of interesting and excellent restaurants. We will definitely return again.

Crested Butte is the perfect ski vacation location. It's only 28 miles from the airport. The town offers a "free" shuttle bus to and from the resorts. Lots of activities to do during your stay. We stayed at The Lodge At Mountaineer Square and would stay again and again. Beautiful facility with lots of extras. We stayed is a one bedroom, 2 bath room and it was perfect for the two of us. It had a full kitchen so we were able to have some meals in. We would highly recommend staying here to anyone and everyone.

We loved the hotel - the room was so cozy you only wanted to eat at home but then there were also so many great dining options in the village and in town. The room was very comfortable and roomy. Very nice size bathrooms for everyone to spread out and having the washer and dryer help to not pack so much for a winter vacation. The staff if first class all the way - from the bellman, to front desk and to the housekeepers. Every staff member is very willing to help and welcome you back to the hotel. The location is great to just get up and roll out to the mountain. I must say the accomodations are wonderful but it is the staff that makes it first class all the way.

This was our second year in a row at The Lodge in Crested Butte, with our two girls, now 11 and 8. It's a wonderful place for a ski vacation--right at the base, within a minute or two of the ski lifts, ski shops and restaurants, one of which, Django's, is right downstairs and was rated the #1 restaurant in Colorado (it's fabulous!). The staff are without exception warm and helpful. The rooms are comfortable with excellent King size beds, fully equipped kitchenettes, balconies overlooking the square of the slopes, and comfy living rooms with flat screen t.v.s and gas fireplaces. The fitness room is bare bones, but okay, and the pool, while small, has both indoor and outdoor connecting parts with a great Jacuzzi next to the outdoor part. Our girls were in there every day. There's also a nice sauna. A fully equipped fitness center is right next door at the Elevation hotel where you can also get full spa and massage treatments. We loved every minute of our stay. Highly recommended!

In a nutshell: Just a 5 minute walk to the lifts of Crested Butte...great for making first chair in the morning, and for getting the best of apres-ski relaxation.

We picked this hotel for a ski vacation in CB, and were not disappointed. Every day, at the end of the last run, we grew to appreciate the location more and more! So easy to get "home" to the room. And then the free shuttle was right there to take us into town for great restaurants and cool shops.

Some quick tips: 1. Have coffee in your room. Lining up at Camp 4 Coffee in the morning is brutal. Nice people, waaaay too slow. 2. Jefe's serves a good breakfast, and you'll hit the slopes fueled up. 3. Avalanche Grill serves really good burgers, large and filling 4. Elevation Spa is wonderful...but make reservations!

Stayed two nights in February. Our "studio" room was small, but extremely well appointed with top of the line everything. The king+ bed was wonderful, with its ultra-soft down cover. The gas fireplace was also very nice for the sub-zero nights. To our surprise, the lodge is just steps away from the main lifts. Unfortunately, we disn't get a chance to use the indoor/outdoor heated pool or spa, but they looked very nice. Compared to similar prioerties in Aspen & Vail, the price is a real bargain. However, is was strange to have to pay extra ($20/night) for parking, when there is really nowhere else to park (but, the heated garage was very convenient). There are very few restaurants near the hotel, but there is a free community shuttle bus from the hotel to the town.

The accomodations were excellent. On the third day of skiing, my wife fell and broke her ankle and the staff was very accommodating in helping to make the rest of her stay as pleasurable as possible. I would like to give a special thanks to John and Nick for all they did after her accident.
