“Hands down the most elegant and delightful B & B I've ever stayed at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2009

This place was wonderful from beginning to end. Website was easy, complete, and accurate. We were welcomed with cookies and a personal note, while our dogs were welcomed with dog beds and dog dishes. The room was comfortable and spacious. I particularly enjoyed the organic bath products. Breakfast was incomparably good. We are coffee snobs and could not get enough of their delicious brew. Using the townie bikes was a special treat in this flat town nestled in the Rocky Mountains.
I am sure we will stay there, again, and have already recommended this place to friends.

We spent two nights in late August and found The Ruby a wonderful place to stay, though it was pricey. Our room was of modest size, but wonderfully appointed with comfortable bed and a fine ceiling fan. Classical music was playing from the large flat-screen TV set in our room when we arrived, and chocolate chip cookies were available every afternoon outside our door. Townie bicycles are available for guests, and a well-signed bike path through a natural area and up to Mt. Crested Butte begins just 2 blocks away. A communal refrigerator and supply of ice was available, plus DVDs, reading material about the locality, a nice back yard, a jacuzzi, and more. Good breakfasts are served, though the "early" seating isn't until 8:15 a.m. Though located near the outskirts of town (toward the Butte itself), it is still possible to walk from The Ruby to every location in town in less than 20 minutes. Chris and Andrea are friendly and reacted receptively to some suggestions we made. The Ruby is dog-friendly; we're not dog owners, but found the dogs of other guests to be interesting and well behaved. You will be sure to be treated well at The Ruby. And Crested Butte and vicinity is Colorado at its best.

We spent two nights at the Ruby...Chris and Andrea are great hosts and made us feel right at home. First class all around, breakfasts were expansive and very tasty. Chris is quite a cook and Andrea always taking care of the little things that make the difference. Rooms are first class, the common areas were very cozy, the back yard was a pleasant place to relax.

Our golden doodle stayed with us, and was pampered as well.

Andrea and Chris are exemplary hosts and go far beyond what I expected at a B&B. I've now been their guest at least three times and would not consider staying anywhere else in CB. The rooms (actually, I've chosen the same one every time I've gone, but I'm sure this is true of all) are fun, good-sized, well-appointed, fun and very clean. And Chris's breakfasts are reason enough to stay there even if everything else wasn't terrific.

My wife, my friend and I spent a relaxing two days in the charming little town of Crested Butte, CO last week. "The Ruby" was located within a short walking distance of downtown. Close enough to walk, but just far enough to remain quiet. The owners (Chris and Andrea) have mountain bikes located outside for your use if desired. We spent the first day exploriing the town and ended up at a local diner "The Steep" and had a great meal and drinks. The next morning, Chris and Andrea served a delicious breakfast and we spent most of the morning chatting with Chris. It was a very relaxing morning - well needed and deserved.
If you are looking for a quiet and charming B&B in a fun little town then I suggest you stay at the The Ruby!

We were in the "Top of the Rockies" room. The 3 teenage boys took the upstairs sleeping room and all had their own beds and TV. This worked great. This may not work so well with girls as we all shared one bathroom. The linens were nice, the hot tub clean, we all loved the bikes that the Ruby provides for you to ride around town and the breakfasts Chris makes are outstanding! We will be back.
